ALBANY, N.Y. - New York Gov. George Pataki has signed legislation that creates a French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration Commission.

The 19-member commission is charged with promoting the 250th anniversary of the war that pitted Britain and the American colonies against the French and their Indian allies.

The first shots in the war were fired in western Pennsylvania in 1754. The major fighting ended in 1760, with France surrendering Canada to the British in a treaty signed three years later

well i think its interesting we are going to commerate another French lose. Seems like there is one everytime we turn around.

it would be interesting to see if schoolkids get a chance for some unique field trips or other educational opportunities out of this. this was an important conflict and helped set the stage for what America would become after the Revolutionary War.
