N.J. Assembly approves 2-year tax hike on millionaires

Sure they can... look at all the filthy rich capitalists on the far left who daily decry capitalism.

Nothing new... just pandering to their whackaloon base.

Except why would Warren Buffett pander to anyone? He's not a politician. He has no need to pander to anyone whatsoever.

Buffet's a leftist?

Since when?

I'm speaking more about Michael Moore and the Hollywierd crowd... those types. And don't get me started on Soros.

Maybe they shoould jsut close all the schools.

then everyone will move out of the state

You tell'em TM!!

oh, you forgot to say; That's the rights plan all along.

It's amazing that TM fights reality more than any human I have ever known...

Don't like the way reality worked things out TM? Well by all means say something completely off topic and stupid. Rich people leaving an area because their taxes go up = reality... Of course we should close all the schools, thank you TM for that insight.

So he pays less taxes than is secretary because he has too or because he higher a top notch tax guy? He is such a great guy that he made sure to find every loop hole that he possibly could.

Well as many of you know, I am a public school teacher and my husband is a small business owner here in NJ. If I honestly believed that the "millionaire's tax" would raise $500 million, I might be in favor. But I don't, and most people in NJ don't either. If I honestly believed it was a "temporary two year tax", I might be in favor. But I don't and most people in NJ don't either. If I honestly believed 100% of the increased revenue would be to pay off the judgment by the Supreme Court to restore school funding, I might be in favor. But I don't and most people in NJ don't either.

The Dems new budget proposal contains "earned income credits" ie. welfare for the working poor. They've already decided to spend that money on wealth redistribution.

Christie knows what he's doing.

I'm just curious, does that make Warren Buffett a "classist" then? And if so, does that mean people can be "classist" against themselves? :eusa_think:

Actually many people are full of self loathing.

Doesn't make hating another group of people for any reason an ok thing to do.

and yeah, it didn't slip my notice that you support his hate.

classist

Man-O-man, those poor millionaires just can't catch a break what with being rousted from state to state and all.

classist

How does it feel to be able to get away with hating a group of people and have the government punish them for you?

taxation as vengence is nothing short of tyranny.

That's a new one.

You should email it to Rush and maybe he'll start using it on his show.

It's very clever.

Thanks, but I haven't listened to Rush since he lost his TV show. He used to be funny, now he's just bitter.

thanks for not denying your hate though, honesty like that is as refreashing as dealing with the likes of Tank and his ilk.

EIC's are AWESOME!!! By doing my own taxes online I turned tax time drama into an small profit.

What? You don't get what I'm saying?

I got back MORE from the Fed than I put in.

But don't you DARE touch my taxes!!!! If you do I will have to starve my chilluns!

I wonder if any of these millionairs that move to PA will pay me under the table....

The "loophole" is moving out of state and unless NJ wants to ban free movement they cannot eliminate it.

But again you prove you my point: You agree with Christie but would rather look like a retard than admit it.

To respond what I bolded: Wrong again.

I disagree with Christie. Using your logic, any sort of tax rate on millionaires is "jobs killing".

You agree that taxes on millionaires are ineffective because they will find ways to avoid it. Which is at least part of Christie's point. So you agree with him but would rather be rolled in dog doo and called Stinky than admit it.

I never said taxes on millionaires are ineffective in general. They aren't, especially when you limit the number of loopholes or exemptions. I was pointing out that none of the millionaires pay the "burdening" amount they supposedly do. I said it's a joke to say they are being burdened in the first place when no corporation pays 35% and no rich person pays 35% unless they choose to or have bad accountants.

Christie saying that taxes on millionaires are ineffective because they'll find ways to avoid it, therefore we shouldn't implement them is the same reasoning why Greece is in trouble right now.

A distinction without a difference.
And no, it has nothing to do with Greece, which has a bloated government sector, powerful unions, and a virtually voluntary tax system.

Well I'd like to express my gratitude to those NJ millionaires that are already paying 9 percent.

Thank for building fancy houses, and helping our construction trade. Thank you for building fancy second homes, and contributing to our tourism trade. Thank you for shopping in fancy stores and frequenting fancy restaurants. Thank you for skiing at our resorts and gambling in our fancy casinos. Thank you for buying fancy boats and contributing to our yacht industry. Without you, this place would be a shit hole.

I bet they don't hear that from the left.

Which is what ours amount to for the ultra rich and Corporations when they have the amount of loopholes and exemptions that they do. In Greece, you're considered a sucker if you don't try and cheat on your taxes.

An Assembly budget panel has approved a two-year income tax increase on New Jersey's 16,000 millionaires.

Democrats say the surcharge will generate more than $500 million in additional revenue. They want to use the money mostly for aid to public schools.

A Senate panel is scheduled to take up the measure tonight.

Gov. Chris Christie has vowed to veto the tax.

Complicated issue. Since the NJ Supreme Court has found that the state needs to restore $500 million in school aid cuts, I don't see how Christie has a choice.

But with that said, can someone help me with this math?

The top tax rate will be raised from 8.97 to almost 11%. 16,000 people are expected to pay $500 million MORE? Do you think these people might deserve a thank you?

It blows my mind.

why? they benefitted from all the tax cuts over the past 10 years. *shrug*

Taking less of someone's money isn't a "benefit", "counselor."

You have taken the bait.

Buffet pays 19% taxes out of his $48,000,000 income. Some of his employees pay 33% taxes out of their salary. That rate starts at a taxable income of $174,400. Buffet pays $9,120,000 in taxes and his employee pays $57,552.

Now, how is that less taxes?
