Now you are moving to taxes, shifting the debate away from spending and the level of debt. The fact remains, when Republicans are in power, the debt has increased under them, just like the Democrats.

Please give me an example of when Republicans have reduced the debt over the past 30 years. I'll wait.

Whether or not the debt can be paid down is really not the driving issue to the massive debt that the USA carries. To say it is not a burden to the taxpayer is nothing more than a juvenile attempt to alleviate reality in order to prevent panic.

In truth, the debt is a shackle on the American citizen because it represents oppressive taxation. The debt, in essence, is nothing more than taxes that have not yet been levied against the citizenship. As long as the debt remains, those who seek, attain, and demand to be in power will forever have a leverage against the masses to remain in power.

dear, they have never been in power, but they could be in the future if the nation stopped splitting its vote almost exactly in half every election. NOt only do they split it in half but they vote for different parties in the same election. Yup. Just trash talk. They promise because like virtually all politicians, they are liars, and will say anything to get elected. And people go along, because when they fail to deliver on their promises they will blame it on the Democrats or someone else, and gullible naive voters will buy it because that's what they want to believe.
