In August 1991 I did a home stay in Volgograd. Here are some people pictures.
Top picture is a lady selling flowers at a transit stop. That was her total inventory.
Middle picture, just a couple guys playing a game in their garage.
Bottom picture, lady carried a scale around the main city park. You paid 25 kopeks and she gave you your weight. I guess scales were hard to come by in the store.

top picture is at the memorial at Mamayev Kurgan, where the Motherland statue is. Just a cute kid
Middle picture is at a vending machine. Back then they didn't have paper cups at the vending machine. The cup was tied to the machine. YOu paid your 10 kopecks and first you washed it one one side the of machine, then you got the drink out of the other side. You needed to move fast. It was soda water, horrible flavor.
Bottom picture just some random kid at the Kursk station in Moscow.

thx for those baruch. I took an intourist trip to Moscow and st petersburg in 87, it was surreal, I thought east Germany was a wreck, my god. the people when they would talk to you were great.
