Just a quick note, many of us in his liberal based voted for him specifically because he was calling for more troops in Afghanistan. If you think otherwise, you're not paying attention.

As for what he's done wrong:

Stimulus plan was way too small and not targeted enough.
He then said it was fine and we were recovering.
He caved on the public option.
He caved on the bush tax cuts.
He caved on the debt ceiling.

In total, I would say his desire to pass something, anything, in a true bipartisan way has been his undoing. It ain't gonna happen. Ever.

About 50 percent of the stimulus hasn't been spent yet. And you wanted it to be more?

The stimulus was partisan for the most part. Increasing the amount would have been even more partisan
The HC plan was barley partisan...the public option would have been 100% far left
He acted in a bi partisan way with the Bush tax cuts
He acted in a bi partisan way with the debt ceiling debacle.

Backed and got the Health Care package passed.
Took out Osama Bin Laden (He deserves all the credit and praise)
Put up some very real regulation of the financial industry.
Appointed Kagan and Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.
Beefed up border security.
Deported more illegal aliens then all of his predecessors.
Beefed up attacks on real terrorists by drones.
Improved relations with allies.
Offered adversaries a very real way to restore relations.
Nuclear Arms Reductions.
Worked well with a party that hates his guts.
The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
Got rid of torture with an executive order.
Took out Somali Pirates.
Made BP pay for their fuck up.
Invested in Green Energy.
Tax cuts for the middle class.

Things he sorta got right.
Stimulus (Way to small)
Afghanistan (While the situation is more stable..the US really just should leave)
Iraq (The US should pull out completely)

Things he screwed the pooch on:
A complete failure to understand just how much the Republicans hate him.
Extended the Bush tax cuts.
Much to much compromise.
Gitmo still open.
Failure to use the very same powers that Bush used over and over..like executive orders and signing statements.
A complete failure to communicate to the public how damaging the Republicans have been.

Overall A-/B+ sort of President.

That wouldn't have happened. Take for example the debt ceiling deal. Obama wanted increases in tax revenue with minimal cuts. During the talks, he gave ground on the cuts and was willing to give even more ground on cuts to SS, Medicare and Medicaid. Most likely in order to win a bipartisan deal with a mix of both ideas. The GOP gave ground on exactly nothing. They said cuts only, no new revenue, and that is exactly what happened.

Obama caved on that deal. Like he did with other deals. He and the Dems got nothing.
