Been coming here now and again for a few months now. I'm pretty new to the political arena and tried to avoid politics as much as possible because it's just a bunch of bickering and the system is corrupt as hell. ...I didn't even vote in 2004. But, i got sucked in during the last election when i could see the Obama-nami (Obama tsunami) rising up over the coastline just about about ready to crash down and wipe out America. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but hey, i can say i wasn't fooled. Hooray for me!

So, i will say that i'm not too thrilled with republicans either; not after GW Bush' rather socialist policies and the republicans spending spree under him. Seems like you can't find a truly conservative politician anywhere on the national stage, and i've always thought that pretty much all politicians are scum (hence the sig) whether they're republican or democrat, though i'll admit that republicans seem a little less scummy.

So, in sum, i'm here to spin my wheels with everyone.

Great another "Bush was a socialist" hard-righter.
Are you going to try to say that Bush and his republican congress didn't spend too much? I believe it was the democrats at that time standing up and calling for fiscal responsibility, which is just a hilarious thought in of itself.

I'm a fiscal conservative. Socially; i'm pretty apathetic. I couldn't care less if gays get married. I'm a little flexible on abortion. I'm probably one of the least religious people you'll ever meet (never been to church outside of weddings or funerals). I would actually favor the legalization of marijuana even though i've never had a lit cigarette in my mouth let alone a joint.

Some day, some how, somewhere some guy is gonna come here so much that he can't stand not being a part of the action and he will post an introductory thread that is ripe for raping despite the foregone conclusion that he is most welcome to join the circus.

It happens every NOW and then.

The glass is half empty.

You didn't vote in 2004? If you don't vote, don't gripe.

More guys should think like Some Guy...
...just not like that one.

This proves that you are misinformed. Bush had a Democratic Congress for his last few years in office...duh!

An apathetic socialist? Does that mean that you don't care who gets what as long as it doesn't come from you? Just what does it mean? Please tell me...in a thousand words or fewer.

What is the difference between actually favoring something and pseudo-favoring the same thing?

Your avitar seems to indicate difficulty with toothpaste extraction.
Uuuummmmm.
Oh and welcome.
You're not supposed to swallow! Just spit it out!

If i did vote, it would've been for Bush. Although here in Illinois, my vote wouldn't have made a difference just like it didn't in 2008 when I voted for McCain.

I know that, but his major spending started before that. The republicans traditionally were champions of fiscal responsibility, or at least supposed to be. So much for that, and they rightfully got voted out of office. Sadly for us though, they were replaced by a new "regime" if you will that's much worse in that respect.

You know what social issues are? Death penalty, gay marriage, abortion, etc. Usually conservatives are very close minded when it comes to those types of issues: gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, no one should be able to do any drugs of any kind, god needs to be very prevalent in everyone's lives, etc. Regarding issues like that, i'm more left leaning, it seems.

Regarding your comment about "as long as it doesn't come from you." You're pretty on track there. I'm not sure why i should have to pay for other people's food, health care, housing, child support, etc. I'm definitely not opposed to charity (i put time into a scholarship fund for burn survivors) and there are many vital services the government needs to provide. But in my opinion, the government tries to do WAY too much, especially lately under Bush and Obama. I'd prefer if the government focuses on keeping me safe (national defense and law enforcement), providing my eventual kids with a good education and thus otherwise staying out of my life.
