Must be close to the elections. Terror level moved to "HIGH"

Ya think?????

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed ... by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Likely the threat level was raised to high because of the bust of a cell across the Atlantic.

Seems prudent.

Also likely is that Obama had little to do with the elevation in threat level, rather the IC recommended it and put it in place.

obama is bush 3

and that sucks

Regarding some things but not many. Would combat troops have left Iraq by now if Obama had continued to "stay the course" which was the Bush strategy for five years and counting? Which president is doing more for returning vets?

Uh...yeah...it was Bush and Maliki's timetable negotiated in 2008.

President Barack Obama told disabled veterans in Atlanta on Monday that he was fulfilling a campaign promise by ending U.S. combat operations in Iraq “on schedule,” by Aug. 31.

But the timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops in Iraq was decided during the Bush administration with the signing of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) by U.S. and Iraq officials on Nov. 16, 2008. The Iraqi parliament signed SOFA on Nov. 27, 2008.

The agreement, which had been in negotiations since 2007, set a timetable calling for most U.S. troops to leave Iraqi towns and cities by June 30, 2009, with about 50,000 troops left in place until the final withdrawal of all U.S. military forces by Dec. 31, 2011.

Not sure why Obama would think more threat would help his side in the election.

If any thing it will help republicans :)

Good point.

American Electorate: "Oh nosies! The bad guy terrorists are threatening us more than ever! We best vote for that Obama feller. HE will keep us safe!"

Uhmmmmm. No.

Although, in fairness to this President, he has made a few good moves along the way in terms of fighting terrorists. Talk of closing Gitmo is not way up on the list. But invoking the "state secrets" principle to defend the "NSA Surveillance program" in Court and to defend his "authorization-to-kill-specific-terrorists list" in Court might (arguably) be on the list.

US and European officials said Tuesday they have detected a plot to carry out a major, coordinated series of commando-style terror attacks in Britain, France, Germany and possibly the United States.

A senior US official said that while there is a "credible" threat, no specific time or place is known. President Obama has been briefed about the threat, say senior US officials.

Intelligence and law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe said the threat information is based on the interrogation of a suspected German terrorist allegedly captured on his way to Europe in late summer and now being held at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

'Credible But Not Specific' Threat of New Terrorist Attack - ABC News

Oh thats right, only republican use the "terror code levels" to scare people. Silly me.-

hey, 'they' are doing everything they can to prevent an attack, but if one comes to pass, we'll absorb it. Got it.
