Mendhar (AsiaNews) – A mob of Muslim radicals have tried to burn a school with a Christian name (St. Francis School), unaware that it is governed by Muslim and Christian in name only. The police managed to stop the arsonists, but fired into the crowd, killing four people and wounding 19. Christian leaders say “these people are being manipulated.
The protest against the “Burn the Koran” campaign is spreading in several areas of Kashmir and has already left 22 dead and hundreds injured. The events used the announced (but subsequently cancelled) desecration of the Koran in the United States, to increase the tension against the Indian government, which refuses to grant autonomy to the region, also disputed by Pakistan.
After three days of demonstrations and violence, protests erupted yesterday in Mendhar, about 60 km from Poonch near the border with Pakistan. From 10 am at least 3,000 people gathered also from nearby villages, marching towards the school of St Francis and the residences of teachers.
The crowd were stopped by the police who used firearms, batons and tear gas grenades. In the clashes four demonstrators were killed and 19 wounded. The mob destroyed dozens of government offices, the police station and burned at least eight cars.
The irony is that the school targeted is Christian in name only and is owned by local Muslims, even if the teaching staff is made up of Christians from Kerala.
Mgr. Peter Celestine, bishop of Srinagar tells AsiaNews: “The so-called St Francis School has nothing to do with Catholic Protestant or evangelical institutions. They only use the Christian name to attract students. This shows that even for the local Muslims, Christian educational institutions have a very high standard”.

There is something seriously wrong with these people who seem to be little more than mindless COWS. Do any of them have any intelligence and ever stop to realize how easily manipulated they really are and wonder who benefits by constantly manipulating them like this? They are willing to riot, injure and KILL people over something that didn't even happen at all? Are you kidding? Doesn't matter that it never happened and doesn't matter if they were never told it didn't happen - just the fact ONE person threatened to do that justifies this kind of barbarianism? So stupid as to really believe engaging in this kind of mindless violence somehow proves how religiously devout they are or somehow glorifies their religion when it actually only proves how STUPID, easily manipulated and dangerous they are and lowers the opinion of Islam itself among non-Muslims? Who are the imams and political leaders who told them this kind of behavior proves ANYTHING positive about them as a Muslim or in ANY way glorifies Islam when it trashes the religion and them as Muslims at the same time in the eyes of the world? Whoever told them this in any way proved how religiously devout they were LIED. This is the kind of behavior that not only leads others to realize these are people who are just incapable of making a positive contribution to addressing any of the world's problems because they are among the root cause of many of the world's problems -but for many to write them off as rabid animals who barely qualify as human at all. Someone should tell them that many people in this world believe the most humane thing to do when confronted with a rabid animal -is to put it down.

There is a reason that unlike with Christians or Jews about their religions, Muslims have to keep insisting it really is a religion of peace. Its because no one in their right mind believes that for a second. There aren't three ongoing conflicts taking place in the world right now where Muslim extremism isn't at the root of that conflict. i never said in my post that musllims makes majority of hate crimes. what i said was that i could take some isolated incidences of anti islam attacks and me it out to be (blow the story) to make it look like everyone was islamaphobes.

Let me put you at ease, friend Nia, by telling you that the day will come when the unease that you note, will pass.

History has shown that there are many cultures, but only one civilization. And Muslims wish to be part of it.

My suggestions:
1. Avoid statements which run counter to what anone can see with their own eyes: America is not a prejuduced malevolent nation. Folk dissatisfaction with Islam is far less than it could be given the news that we see daily.

2. Give Americans this credit: individuals will be, and are, treated as individuals. Folks give new acquaintances a chance. The FBI stats indicate this.

3. Look at the long range picture: try not to react to any criticism of Islamists as though it was directed at you. If the shoe doesn't fit, don't try to wear it. And always be honest: there are serious problems.

4. Post statements and quotes tha show the better side of Islam, rather than a rehash of the negative.

5. If possible, it would go a long way in the direction that you wish, if you could find some humor that reflects on Islam. Americans have a wonderful sense of humor.
Did you hear this one, told by an Arab comedian: 'What do you say to a woman with two black eyes? Nothing, you already told her twice."

Difficult though these may be, the situation is improving. Islam is reforming before out eyes:
