CAIRO, (PIC)-- Secretary-general of the Muslim brotherhood group in Egypt Mohamed Badi'a met on Saturday in Al-Moqattam suburb near Cairo head of Hamas's political bureau Khaled Mashaal and all the Palestinian delegations that signed the reconciliation deal.

Badi'a expressed during the meeting his happiness at the Palestinian reconciliation agreement that was signed a few day ago in Cairo by all Palestinian resistance factions.

He stressed that this agreement made the Palestinian factions more bound to support the option of reconciliation, renounce division and estrangement and be one hand in the face of the Israeli occupation state that wants to keep the Palestinians divided.

The head of the Muslim brotherhood emphasized that his group would always be supportive of the Palestinian people's unity and their struggle against the occupation.

I bet you some of the things discussed were when Shariah should be put into place, and when they can cover their women in burkas and ban them from driving.

Five years after winning the elections Hamas does not seem to be in any hurry about the driving and burka thing.

Their getting there, they already got their women wearing headcovers at work and stopped them from wearing swimsuits at the beach, Shariah Law can't happen overnight.

In the near future the siege of Gaza will be over. The quickest way to get money and employment into the strip would be tourism. Sharia law would slam the brakes on that venture.

It will be interesting to see what they do.

You are definently right about that, no one wants to go to a place where you get lashes for not wearing a burka.

If they can get this reconciliation thing to fly (and I have my doubts) Hamas will not be the ruling party in Palestine.

I think there is a basic misunderstanding about Islamic law. Palestine's constitution calls for Shari’a law but what you see does not coincide with perceptions.

    Article (4)
    1. Islam is the official religion in Palestine. Respect
and sanctity of all other heavenly religions shall be maintained.
    2. The principles of Islamic Shari’a shall be the main
    Source of legislation.
    3. Arabic shall be the official language.

This was signed into law by Arafat in 2003. Eight years later women are still driving around with their hair in the breeze - even in Gaza.

Ending the peace agreement does not mean that Egypt will attack Israel. There are perks in the agreement that Israel does not deserve. It would not mean a declaration of war.
