Musician Captain Beefheart dies at age 69

From that list, the most egregiously overlooked are:

Jethro Tull
Moody Blues
Yes
Todd Rundgren
Emerson, Lake & Palmer

After that, I guess a case could be made for:

Bad Company
B-52s (not rock)
War (not rock)
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Three Dog Night (not rock)
Tina Turner (not rock, but she rocked)
Roxy Music
Kiss
Kraftwerk (not rock)
Doobie Brothers

and maybe Gram Parsons.

But Donna Summer? Beastie Boys? LL Cool J? I'd sooner elect Neil Sedaka.

When is Barry Manilow eligible?

It's a fun place to visit if you happen to be in Cleveland.

But what I don't understand is, at the rate they induct people, aren't they eventually going to run out of people to induct?

Are they eventually going to have to induct Brintey Spears and Justin Beebers and the like?

good point.....they might as well induct them two....they have already started on the Hip-Hop crowd....

I'm sure there was a bit of local politics involved - The Pretenders are the best band ever to come out of Cleveland, and they have always championed the city and the state of Ohio. And Chrissie Hynde is definitely worthy! I also believe she predates Joan Jett, but I may be wrong.

Joan Jett and the Runaways ist Lp 1976......the Pretenders ist 1980.....Chrissy may be worthy but there are some who should be there first....
