I've joked in the past that the problem with the Modern Conservative/Republican movement is that it watches It's a Wonderful Life" and cheers for Mr. Potter.

Well, I'd argue when he picked up the money Uncle Billy accidentally dropped and didn't return it and instead tried to use it to foreclose on George... um, yeah, that was criminal.

Also, morally a lot worse than trying to get your family out of a war torn country and trying to get them somewhere safe.

The modern equivalent of George is the banker who gives loans to people who can't pay them and thereby causes the entire banking system to collapse.
