I like Shawshank and the Green Mile. They are both based on Stephen King novels believe it or not. I would add "The Shootist" which was Duke Wayne's last movie about an aging gunfighter dying of cancer while Duke Wayne was also dying of cancer. Great performance by Ron Howard as a teen age rebel in the 1880's.
I like "Man On Fire" with Denzel Washington and a brilliant performance by young Dakota Fanning. A burned out drunk former Special Ops takes a job as a bodyguard for a kid in Mexico City and when she is kidnapped he kicks ass.
 
Impressed with the lists, but if I posted more than one it'd just be to fit in.

Dr. Zhivago, I'd trudge all over Siberia for Lara, too. I'm probably one of the few guys that chose the music for their wedding reception first dance, Lara's Theme.

The John Wayne movie I love to watch is The Man who shot Liberty Valance

Another Steven King that is great to watch is Stand by me
