Are there any decent movies about the Eastern front? Stalingrad looked pretty hokey.

There was an interesting movie based on a Willi Heinrich novel, called 'Cross of Iron' that is well worth seeing.

Stars James Colburn as veteran German NCO 'Steiner' and depicts the German retreat from the Kuban after Stalingrad.

Cross of Iron is a great movie, but I'm more keen on documentaries.
Actually I do have one movie about barbarossa, but it's in russian, they produce very decent educational motion pictures.
If you want those, I can share'em for you on my server or send us your mail.

I really liked Duell Enemy at the Gates (I think thats the English title), a total plus of the movie is that you can see me (yes, I played a Young Russian textless conscript) getting shot :D
