If you thought Solyndra was bigtime corruption, wait until you read the details of the Siga scandal. David Willman of the Los Angeles Times reveals a huge no-bid contract bearing all the signs of intervention from above, that could dwarf Solyndra. It involves the health and safety of the American poeple, and a squandering of taxpayer resources.

The Department of Health and Human Services has signed a no-bid contracted with Siga Technologies for as much as much as 2.8 billion dollars' worth of a high priced drug, for a terrorism threat that may not exist. The drug's effectiveness is unknown because it cannot be tested on humans. The threat it is intended to counter is an attack based on Smallpox (which has been eradicated and only "is known to exist only in the locked freezers of a Russian scientific institute and the U.S. government.")

A large stockpile of effective and inexpensive smallpox vaccine already exists. The new drug is intended to be used after exposure to smallpox in the event of a bioterrorism attack.

These Execs have to be big campaign donors like Solyndra. The can't even test their drug on humans yet they're gonna give them $Billions in Taxpayer Money? Man this stuff is just blatant corrupt cronyism at this point. It's very sad.

You can't even make this stuff up!! More paybacks for campaign contributions!!

Yea it's so brazen. This is what happens when you have a Boot-Licking Press in your corner. The Liberal Press got him elected so they've made a big investment in him. If he were a Republican,CNN and NBC would be calling for mass resignations 24/7. No justice. Makes you depressed.

Whaaaaa? Oh no, you must be mistaken, this is going to be the most ethical and open administration ever! Riiiight:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Aye carumba. Everything this administration pulls with awarding $$$ is just a money laundering scheme on a grand scale.

It's just surreal at this point.

Here you go epic Failo......below are two of the dozens of articles that can be found if you only choose to look beyond the tip of your nose.

... an examination of grants and guaranteed loans offered by just one stimulus program run by the Department of Energy, for alternative-energy projects, is stunning. The so-called 1705 Loan Guarantee Program and the 1603 Grant Program channeled billions of dollars to all sorts of energy companies. The grants were earmarked for alternative-fuel and green-power projects, so it would not be a surprise to learn that those industries were led by liberals. Furthermore, these were highly competitive grant and loan programs—not usually a hallmark of cronyism. Often fewer than 10 percent of applicants were deemed worthy.

Nevertheless, a large proportion of the winners were companies with Obama-campaign connections. Indeed, at least 10 members of Obama’s finance committee and more than a dozen of his campaign bundlers were big winners in getting your money. At the same time, several politicians who supported Obama managed to strike gold by launching alternative-energy companies and obtaining grants. How much did they get?

According to the Department of Energy’s own numbers ... a lot. In the 1705 government-backed-loan program, for example, $16.4 billion of the $20.5 billion in loans granted as of Sept. 15 went to companies either run by or primarily owned by Obama financial backers—individuals who were bundlers, members of Obama’s National Finance Committee, or large donors to the Democratic Party.

The grant and guaranteed-loan recipients were early backers of Obama before he ran for president, people who continued to give to his campaigns and exclusively to the Democratic Party in the years leading up to 2008. Their political largesse is probably the best investment they ever made in alternative energy. It brought them returns many times over.

... One might think that the Department of Energy’s Loan Program Office, which has doled out billions in taxpayer-guaranteed loans, would be directed by a dedicated scientist or engineer. Or perhaps a civil servant with considerable financial knowledge. Instead, the department’s loan and grant programs are run by partisans who were responsible for raising money during the Obama campaign from the same people who later came to seek government loans and grants. Steve Spinner, who served on the Obama campaign’s National Finance Committee and was a bundler himself, was the campaign’s “liaison to Silicon Valley.”

... Another Obama fundraiser positioned to lead the allocation of taxpayer money to Obama contributors was Sanjay Wagle, who served as the managing co-chairman of Cleantech & Green Business Leaders for Obama. Wagle’s day job was as a principal at VantagePoint Venture Partners. After the 2008 election, Wagle joined the Obama administration as a “renewable energy grants adviser” at the Department of Energy. VantagePoint owned firms that would later see federal loan guarantees roll in."

New internal White House emails reveal that a scathing critique of Energy Secretary Steven Chu by a former Obama political advisor was widely circulated at the highest levels of the administration.

The Feb. 25, 2011 email that sparked the deliberations landed on West Wing desks just as the solar energy firm Solyndra was starting to show outward signs of financial trouble. It was sent by Dan Carol, a former Obama campaign staffer and clean energy advocate who was described by Obama's then-Chief of Staff Pete Rouse as someone whose views "reflect the President's general philosophy on energy policy."

Carol's four-page proposal to restructure the Energy Department included the blunt recommendation that Chu be fired, and that his leadership team also be replaced, calling it time for "serious changes, even if they are uncomfortable to make."

It's all very sad corrupt cronyism. Once again the Taxpayers get screwed. It is what it is.
