Most Underrated/Overrated Bands/Albums/Songs

Underrated - Big Star

They put out two of the best albums of the 70s, yet most people haven't even heard of them. Poor handling by their record company left them in obscurity until they were rediscovered in the early 80's, influencing such bands as REM and the Replacements.

Overrated - The Rolling Stones

Don't get me wrong. They have some great tunes; but overall, their catalog is pretty spotty. Other than Some Girls, the rest of their albums aren't too consistent. Just my opinion, of course. Nothing personal, Stones fanatics.

Overrated - Paul Simon (solo)

Sorry. I love Simon and Garfunkel, but with a few exceptions, Simon's solo career just does not interest me. Not even Graceland.

Agreed. saw them in 1968 on a bill with The Velvet Underground and the Fugs. Fortunately the Dead were on last and we were able to leave halfway through their set.

The Richard Thompson Band and Steve Winwood and his band. Both are in a class of their own and will blow you away.
