“Most European countries (including Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium) if they joined the US, would rank among the poorest one-third of US states on a per-capita GDP basis, and the UK, France, Japan and New Zealand would all rank among America’s very poorest states, below No. 47 West Virginia, and not too far above No. 50 Mississippi. Countries like Italy, S. Korea, Spain, Portugal and Greece would each rank below Mississippi as the poorest states in the country.”

And all you hear from the Left is we need to emulate Europe.

The U.S.A also has a lot more resources than all European countries, except Russia.

Also the U.S.A didn't have to rebuild from 2 World Wars.
America paid not only our allies for two world wars, but rebuilt our enemies as well. Then we paid to rid you of the USSR. Don’t blame us for the crap you Euros keep dragging us into.

You voted for Trump because he said he would emulate them. Look how he’s copied their tariffs (a major reason why they’re poor).

Yeah, telling the Euros to F off and start trading fair and start paying your F’n NATO dues really shows Trump trying to be like Europe.

Dumbass.

Trump is literally copying their strategy on tariffs, you inbred retard.

Funny thing is Europeans do not have the unhappiness of the money crazed USA citizens. They have very good lives and are in general well adjusted to being in good health and a safe nation/s

Even if that’s so, WTF does that have to do with the OP? Is there some socialist agenda Trump is sneaking into tariffs somehow? Either make the link or move on.

I live in Belgium, making undoubtedly less money then the average American. Care to compare standard of living?

Yeah, that’s why hundreds of thousands are lined up to immigrate to the US, they have it too good in Europe.

My wife is American she decided to live here, so what's your point?

Sure. I’m a middle income man who grew up in poverty and now living in a 6,000+ sq ft home on a lake, retired in my 50’s and owe no man a penny.

How’s your standard of living?

Well. I have my own house, undoubtedly smaller then yours but comfortable nonetheless. drive a Mercedes. Have about 100000 left on my mortgage. I take on average 1 trip to the US for about 2 weeks a year. I can send my daughter to any school I choose (no school districts). Me and my family have access to health insurance. Access that will not go away if I loose my job, or get disabled. I have about 30 days paid leave a year. Paternity leave which allows me to take of 3 months from my job, to be taken before her 12th birthday on reduced pay. Disability and unemployment compensation that would allow me to survive if not with a lot of comfort if I get unemployed. My daughter will further have access to college and a full degree on about 5000 annually. Before that we are talking almost nothing for education.

Your OP was created to call out Democrats for wanting European policies, but you voted for and actually enacted European policies. Pretty goddam stupid of you, IMHO.

I'm guessing you are talking about immigration and our policies towards it?

Not so clearly obviously, since I didn't get it.
Countries ranked by Tariff rate, applied, simple mean, all products (%)
Just to give some perspective the US tariffs would be ranked number 6 on highest tariffs in 2016 of 41 countries. This is ahead of ALL western Democracies and ABOVE by about 50 percent, the EU average.
