Social Democracy is the belief that democracy is a virtue, and the only way to enact social justice is through social democracy.

Of course, looking at countries around the world, we see this fallacy. Democracy is not a virtue and when immoral and ignorant people vote they vote for people who continue to abuse their power.

The biggest fallacy though is that redistribution is a virtue. The poor in a very rich country are almost always better off than the poor in a socialist country, especially the Third World. The key is unlocking economic prosperity, and everyone understands that socialism is not that key. Just look at Venezuela. They are now eating out of garbage cans.

The universities are one of the last places on earth where people have not taken a pay cut. They realize that their bread and butter is to have government find a way for students to afford larger and larger student loans to continue to pay their bloated salaries. The government has simply taken over the student loan business so that they can lower interest rates so that students can afford a bigger and bigger loan to go to college. Then they passed draconian laws to make sure that students are unable to get out of paying their student loans. As a result, student loans have become the worst debt someone can have.

Of course, there is an end game here. You can only lower student interest rates on loans so low. Now it is getting to the point that even with a 1% interest rate, students are not being able to afford going to college.

The answer? The answer comes from Hillary and Bernie. Just have the US taxpayer fund the continued bloated salaries of universities around the country so that they can continue to enjoy a much higher standard of living than the rest of the country. That way the government can just continue to inflate the currency and the value of everyone's money to afford college.

So as you can see, the relationship between big government and big universities is mutually beneficial. Government helps pay the bills of the universities as they mortgage our future, and the universities continue to churn out supporters of big government.

When the states withdrew funding of higher ed the costs increased. Much of the issue has been with for profit colleges. The Democrats want both an increase in immigration and support outsourcing including legal. There are no jobs. Therefore, you cannot have it all. Again, since education is funded by property taxes the funding should be increased. The money is there when the states get real about those businesses labeled as non-profit that are clearly for profit.

college kids are idealistic. they want an ideal world where everyone holds hands and sings kumbaya. that's what they're supposed to be like.

and they do know what socialism is. and they know we're the only western country that doesn't take care of the medical needs of its population and allows college students to be used as an ATM for big banks.

Wait, wait wait, democrats have single handedly doubled the debt in eight years. It was ten trillion when obummer went in and it will be right at 20 trillion on his way out? What have we got to show for it? Nada. Obamacare is a train wreck. Everyone' takes home less in his paycheck. Now Obama has denied the seniors a col adjustment for three years, cut the military to the bone, then he submitted a budget that included giving himsekf an 18% pay increase in retirement. The obama's have spent 71 million American taxpayer dollars just on vacations. We have nothing. Not one damn thing is better. And then there is the corruption, that's a whole different subject.

I'm starting to wonder if you understand what socialism is.

What we have seen in the US are institutions that are destroyed because of the pretense they can be run more efficiently by corporations. When the corporations figure out that the actual care cuts into their bottom line or they cannot profit immensely from it they shut it down or refuse to provide what is necessary.
