Utah gay pride parade draws hundreds of Mormon participants

By Dan Gilgoff, CNN.com Religion Editor

(CNN) – A gay pride parade in Mormon-heavy Salt Lake City drew thousands of participants, including a few hundred Mormons, whose church has been criticized by gay rights activists for its activism against same-sex marriage.

The Mormon contingent for Sunday's parade wasn’t made up of gay members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but rather straight Mormons who want to show support for gay and lesbians, according to CNN affiliate KSTU-TV in Salt Lake City.

It's a Pro-Gay/Anti-Church thing with you, isn't it...

Why again was it that you don't go after the Religion that KILLS Homosexuals as a Matter of Law?...

Oh yeah, you don't Care about that because it's not happening in YOUR Backyard...

:)

THe Catholics, the Episcopalians, the Lutherans, and the Methodists have been marching in the Long Beach parade and have set up booths at the Gay Pride Festival there for years. Glad to see that some Mormons are reaching out.

Even good ole` Harry Reid has "evolved" [not flipped-flopped] in his way of thinking in regards to same sex marriage. Here is what he thought in 2008 and before:

SNIP:

Reid, the highest-ranking Mormon in government, privately criticized the church for getting involved in the anti-gay marriage Proposition 8 campaign in California in 2008, saying it would hurt missionary outreach.

SNIP:

Reid's [new] position, conveyed by a nod of his head at the end of a meeting with reporters, signaled an evolution for the state's Democratic leader, who has acknowledged voting a decade ago for a constitutional amendment in Nevada to ban gay marriage.

Reid says he personally believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

But like President Barack Obama, who announced Wednesday he supported gay marriage, Reid indicated this week the time may be right for society to reflect a view he said probably "will carry the future."

Marrying another man is bad but marrying seven women is OK.

Both are ok, as everyone involved is a willing participant and has chosen to be in such a relationship.

This thread should help stop people using the idiotic assumptions that religious people and churches are anti-gay marriage. Some are, some aren't. The majority of our country identify themselves as christian, and the majority of americans support same sex marriage, hence why the people who should get the most credit for gay marriage being legalized are american christians.

A few years back, I described the churches marching in the Long Beach parade, their booths at the Pride festival and even a gospel karaoke tent and was called a liar.

Because you tend to Lie...

And Probably because these People are Acting like the Church to do Damage to it.

I am going to start a Jewish Church that Defies ALL of the Traditional Teachings and then you and yours can Rally around the Absurdity.

Well, in some ways your post rings true....we got married in a Christian church many years before we got married legally.
