If Canada's socialized medicine is so good, why are they going elsewhere to get treated? It doesn't say where they're going but my guess it was right here in the good old UsofA! And, if Obama and his cronies get their way and we get a similar system, where will patients from other countries like Canada go then?

“In 2014, the average patient in Canada could expect to wait almost 10 weeks for medically necessary treatment after seeing specialist. This wait time is more than three weeks longer than what physicians consider to be clinically reasonable,” Barua said.

How can this be? I thought the whole purpose of this monstrosity was to provide healthcare to ALL Americans.

Let's wait for some Canadians to weigh in on this. In one way that looks like a lot of people but maybe not.

I was vacationing in Florida a couple weeks ago and saw a ton of Ontario license plates. If these geezers are seeing American doctors in Florida just because they happen to be there during the winter months, it is no poor reflection on Canadian healthcare. I wonder of they would be included in this 52 thousand.

Snowbirds through to Vegas every Winter and we see thousands of license plates coming through from the south.

I wonder just how many of them get their medical needs taken care of while they're here in the USA.

The process is called Medical and Dental tourism.

The Canadians could afford it and did not want to wait the average of 9.4 weeks. American medical and dental tourism: ". An estimated 750,000 Americans went abroad for health care in 2007, and the report estimated that 1.5 million would seek health care outside the US in 2008. The growth in medical tourism has the potential to cost US health care providers billions of dollars in lost revenue." Medical tourism - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

I think the reason why most Canadians have to leave the country for medical treatment and go to the USA is because we have too many illegal refugees in Canada whom are sucking off our medical system for free. We have something like 60,000 illegals in Canada whom are being allowed to jump the waiting lines when treatment is needed while they sit around and wait to see if they can stay in Canada. Not to forget the room and board hat has to be forked out to keep these illegals alive and well all at taxpayers expense. I blame our medicare problems all on immigration. :(

One, are the illegals paying taxes. If so, then they are in line. It's how the system works.
Two, if not and they are getting preference, I would talk to your parliamentary member.

Let us hope that they are paying taxes if they are working. If they are working than it is probably for minimum wage and pretty well would be below the poverty line and would most likely pay very little taxes, if any at all. Talking to your member of Parliament would be just as useless as trying to move a wall out of your way. They just about all tow the more the merrier immigrant line. These days one could easily be branded as a possible terrorist for daring to question or challenge the party line. So, that is out. Besides, when did a politician ever listen to one of his/her constituents and paid heed. The usual response is I will look into it for you, thanks for your concern. Unless it is politically correct they pretty much will never get back to you. That is how the system works.

My guess is its wealthy Canadians who do not want to wait

A free country allows its citizens to find and use the services best available anywhere, within or not inside its borders.

A free country allows its citizens to acquire enough wealth to take advantage of the health system of another country.

A free country does not blame another country for the mistakes of that other country.

Canada is a free country. Admittedly, by the grace of the United States. You know, so close, so vulnerable.

That you and most others on the right don't get it comes as no surprise.

I moved from Ontario to Manitoba, when my daughter (resident of Manitoba at the time) announced that she is about to produce our first grand child.

Well, we moved to Winnipeg.

This move convinced me that there is no such thing as "Canadian Health System". It varies from province to province. For you uninformed American CNN viewers it means like state to state, and I presume you know that, but I doubt having watched the average American on the street interviewed by the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

From 1999 to 2003 I worked and lived in Akron, the location of the head office of the I worked for, and my waiting times in the US were no better than my waiting times in Ontario would have been.

So, just cool it. American health facilities are more quickly accessible because so few people can afford them.

So if 52,000 means Canadian healthcare sucks, what's

"It's estimated that up to 750,000 US residents travel abroad for care each year."

mean?

Obamacare sucks?

heh

.

There are 35.16 million Canadians. Therefore, 0.15% of Canadians leave Canada for medical care.

There are 318.9 million Americans. 750,000, or 0.24%, of Americans leave the country for medical care.

Therefore, if we are judging a medical system by how many citizens leave for medical care, Canada is better than the US.

I, however, don't necessarily think that way.

As a Canadian who lives in the US and makes a good living, it is my opinion that as long as one is middle class and employed or wealthy, the American system is better.

However, if I were lower middle class or poor, the Canadian system is better.

I grew up in Saskatchewan, and lived in BC and Ontario. My parents still live in BC. I now live in Florida.

The wait times are longer in Canada.
