Oh, another "we need guns" thread. :blahblah:
In reality, the OP should read, "More drugs/gang related shootings in Liverpool"; wonder if the OP actually stopped to consider, if everyone had guns, it still wouldn't have stopped the incident and if lots of armed people rushed out into the street as a result the risk of "misunderstanding" and "blue on blue" shootings would have been enormous, so rather than an isloated shotgun going off, there could have been a massacre as gun-totting neighbours shot at each other in the dark, thinking they were under attack by "bad guys"

I have been discussing this issue for years now, so your post doesn't surprise me....you don't know anything about the realities of law abiding people owning and carrying guns for self defense. Each year in the U.S. we have on average 2.4 million defensive uses of guns to stop rapes, robberies and murders...according to research by the Centers for Disease Control.....

The people stopping these crimes are not Navy Seals, and often have little to no training at the time of the attack...and yet, we do not have "misunderstandings" or "blue on blue" shootings .

You need to actually study this issue if you want to know the truth.....and part of that truth? As more Americans own and carry guns for self defense, in public, our gun crime rates have gone down, not up, our accidental gun deaths have gone down, not up.....

We went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 17 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2017...guess what happened...

-- gun murder down 49%

--gun crime down 75%

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

And as an example....

Really? You are claiming 17 million gun owners are responsible for a massive drop in murder, gun and other violent crime? 17 Million people out of a total adult population of 250 million in the US? That's about 7%. 7% of your popluation are responsible for a 49% drop in Murders, a 75% drop in gun crime and 72% drop in violent crime overall? Really?

And there are people who don't like electric cars - i mean they HATE electric cars and they can't understand that there are people who don't hate them with that same intensity.
