More Rush...why the left is envious...

"They ... resent the very existence of a program that’s been wildly successful for 24 years and spawned a powerful conservative talk industry which reaches an overall weekly audience of more than 40 million and which more than 1 in 8 Americans describe as “very credible

Limbaugh’s critics seem unable to accept the fact that many of their fellow citizens actually appreciate the opportunity to listen to his opinions on a regular basis, so rather than persuade those poor benighted souls to listen to something else, they mean to take away the broadcast that they enjoy."

"Rather than continuing to compete in the open marketplace, lefties merely yearn to shut down the other side with sponsor boycotts."

"The logic seems to suggest that since we’re suffering at the moment then at least we can make you suffer too; we may not be able to help the poor but we can certainly hurt the rich.
"This reflects the similarly resentful attitude toward powerful voices in radio. There, the left argues that since we can’t get our own messages out to millions of enthusiastic fans, then the least we can do is to stop Limbaugh and colleagues from imparting their dangerous messages to an immense and eager audience. At this point, the critics of the conservative talk medium seem far more concerned with shutting up right-wing voices than with raising left-wing voices as a constructive alternative."

Rush Limbaugh: Why the Left Is Envious - The Daily Beast

It's been pretty well established over the last 20 years that Liberals really don't form a market for loud, rude, in your face shock jock type political radio shows. Righties however eat that shit up. Thus those like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, etc. making OODLES of money off of them.

Don't worry about us. Looks like you have Huckabee to worry about.

Huckabee will launch a three-hour radio program on almost 200 stations across the country, going voice-to-voice with Limbaugh in the noon-to-3 p.m.

Cumulus Media, which owns and operates the new program, is already pitching Huckabee to listeners and advertisers as the “safe alternative” to a man who has recently found himself under weeks of intense fire - not for the first time - and who some believe could be vulnerable to a challenge from someone offering a kinder, gentler conservative voice.

fta-The core concept of bureaucratically imposed “fairness” actually constitutes an oppressive, invidious authoritarian relic (removed by unanimous vote of the Federal Communications Commission in 1987) that would destroy the entire talk radio industry by preventing any station from establishing an ideological identity.

Actually what has happened is that a privately owned radio station can now broadcast a single political perspective all day long on public airwaves without having to deal with rebuttal points of view. They now use public airwaves to stiffle free speech and the free exchange of ideas. Are they so afraid of competing ideas that they must demonize fairness?

In other words, liberals can't attack Limbaugh lest they be labeled as 'envious'.

And yet, Limbaugh can attack liberals 3 hours a day 5 days a week, and somehow, that's legitimate and commendable...

very funny, idiots.

Good gracious alive. Unbelievable that any sane person would be proud to have rush as a spokesperson for their party. No wonder they call you dopes tools. Especially that you would think someone would be jealous of the fat blowhard. Get real. Thank GOD the imbecile wasn't allowed in the NFL.

Neither compares. Franken doesn't have 40 million people behind him...and Maddow can't touch Limbaugh in terms of followers.

I repeat:

NPR has TWO daily news/commentary shows that get approximately the same size audience as Limbaugh.

And? I know many that listen and they are not liberal.

True. That's a lie that is often told about NPR - that they're "liberal". They're not.

But they ARE very high quality. Ain't no way anyone can say that about that disgusting, fat, drug addicted, drug smuggling, nasty mouthed, lying, woman hating and woman fearing pile of shit.

(Did I miss anything?)

WOW, the pathological liar lost about half his audience from the "slut" crap. Liar that he is, he says his audience is larger than it's ever been.

March 28, 2012
RUSH: We haven't lost any audience in this program. The audience is larger than it's ever been... But the advertisers who've really been hurt are the ones who've abandoned here. I just assume everybody understood that. Let me tell you: We have 22 million people here who have stopped patronizing these people, stopped patronizing them. It's major in many instances, the harm that has been inflicted.

The people who made pissing and moaning about the so-called liberal media an art form are now trying to ridicule anyone who doesn't like Limbaugh?

Imagine that.

The Morning Show and All Things Considered on PBS are indeed popular with the crowd who isn't so much into politics but enjoys a wide variety of non political topics too. Both enjoy good ratings, but neither are talk radio programs.

Oh, yes - you ARE describing Keith Olbermann. Right?

Ironically Limbaugh built his radio career around a set of standard pro-conservative complaints,

one prominent one being the complaint about the supposed dominance of the liberal media

Once conservatism became the dominant force in radio, suddenly, predictably, conservatives decided that anyone who complained about that was a cry-baby.

Rush Limbaugh: Why the Left Is Envious - The Daily Beast

Rush's propensity to say pretty much anything for money reminds me of a quote by Thomas Paine.
"Infidelity does not consist of believing, or in disbelieving; it consists in professing to believe what one does not believe." It is impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that mental lying has produced in society. When man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind, as to subscribe his professional belief to this he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime."
