Tulsa - Records continue to fall as a Summer heatwave maintains its grip on Oklahoma and Texas.

On Thursday parts of Northwestern Oklahoma climbed above 110 degrees with Buffalo, OK setting an all-time record of 115 degrees and it could get even hotter on Friday.

Sorry....still unseasonably cool in the upper midwest and intermountain west.

    No dice, Christine.

The maximum temperature record for the DFW airport (of course, the site was located in Fort Worth then), is 107 degrees which has held since 1917. Even the brutal summer of 1980 didn’t break that one

Today, however, it will be close. High temperatures over north Texas will range from 103 to 108 degrees. The heat index values will fluctuate with surface dewpoints expected to gradually drop during the afternoon, but they may top 110 during today.

Record heat: Close call in DFW forecast

We have seen just a small taste of things to come in the past 24 hours, as a small number of record temperatures were broken around the country. In El Paso, a record high minimum temperature of 80 degrees was set on Wednesday, eclipsing the old 'warm' low of 70 set in 1934. In Roswell, New Mexico, a record high was tied when the mercury shot up to 103 on Wednesday, the same as occurred in 1964. And in Grand Forks, North Dakota, a record low maximum was tied at 67, dating from 1962 as well.
