Just a small point of clarification: the Dems didn't defend or vote down all that stuff. They simply tabled it, and the Republicans didn't have enough votes to get them taken off the table.

But the GOP still has the ammunition to use the campaign this summer and fall. The Democrats were given an opportunity to fix these horrendous provisions, and they refused to do it. So, if the GOP can finally put together a credible campaign, they do have some leverage to use. Unfortunately, Republicans are notoriously bad campaigners, so I hope they're getting some good advice on how to use this stuff.

Well, from my understanding, the reason they tabled them is because if they did not, then it would have opened up the health care bill again to the 60 vote measure..... the Republicans knew such and this is the ONLY reason they added those amendments this late in the game, and they chose some of the amendments that they did, so to try to embarrass the democrats during the election with them in the fall...

it's a campaign technique. a guaranteed money collecting venture, like yelling out ''LIAR'' towards the President in a state of the union speech.... i can hear the phone message now, repeating all the things they will SAY the Dems voted against....then get their credit card numbers or pledge to donate.....

ALL just dirty politicking on both sides.... I'm personally sick of it and sick of being played and sick of watching others being played....

But if people were HONEST about WHY they are using his middle name, it is NOT out of respect, it is NOT because it was used for other presidents, but it IS FOR NEGATIVE REASONS (to associate Barak with Saddam Hussein, a muslim we executed)......you know it, they know it, I know it.
