The AP reported:
The Obama administration blocked efforts by government scientists to tell the public just how bad the Gulf oil spill could become and committed other missteps that raised questions about its competence and candor during the crisis, according to a commission appointed by the president to investigate the disaster.
In documents released Wednesday, the national oil spill commission’s staff describes “not an incidental public relations problem” by the White House in the wake of the April 20 accident.
Among other things, the report says, the administration made erroneous early estimates of the spill’s size, and President Barack Obama’s senior energy adviser went on national TV and mischaracterized a government analysis by saying it showed most of the oil was “gone.” The analysis actually said it could still be there.
“By initially underestimating the amount of oil flow and then, at the end of the summer, appearing to underestimate the amount of oil remaining in the Gulf, the federal government created the impression that it was either not fully competent to handle the spill or not fully candid with the American people about the scope of the problem,” the report says.
The administration disputed the commission findings, saying senior government officials “were clear with the public what the worst-case flow rate could be.”

Not surprising at all. His administration is blocking all efforts to find out anything about his past too, including that elusive birth certificate.

Don't expect the truth from that grifter any time soon. He's a low down, filthy liar.

I read this the other day and was amuzed but perplexed.

Originally, it was BP that caught holy hell for allegedly under-reporting/under-estimating spill volumes.

Then.... BAM!

Obama stepped in and announced he was running the show.

SUCKER! :D

This is all part of Obama's anti-oil agenda.
Remember, during the 2008 campaign, Obama stated he would "be comfortable with $4 per gallon gasoline".
It is my belief that if the economy was in good shape, the Obama regime would certainly increase the federal gas tax from the current 18 cents per gallon. I suspect Imam Obama would recommend an increase of at least one dollar per gallon.
These socialists believe they should ram their version of conservation down our thorats by causing energy to be expensive.
The ONLY reason this has not been done is because politically this would be suicide.
The American public looks at prices and for the most part shops wisely. American consumers guage how much things cost by the price of gasoline.
If they perceive the price of gas to be expensive( which by the way causes the price of all consumer goods to rise) they will hunker down and slow their spending.

Actually, it appears to me he's taking the fall for BP.

As to $4 gas, the fed tax may be fixed but the base price will always fluxuate with the market. He's just talking out his ass.

Federal, state, and local taxes on gasoline should be increased somewhat in order to generate revenue and supress demand. The trick is doing it in small increments. In 1999 when gasoline was $1/gallon the government was making more money than anyone else in the entire marketing chain- from producers to refiners to retailers.

Conservation is good when taken in small doses, by the individual. The benefits to the entire population is what counts.

I respectfully disagree.
Using price to force conservation is regressive. Do not forget. There are people other than SUV driving soccer moms who need fuel to get from one place to another.
Raising the price of fuel through taxation does not generate conserving methods. It just makes thngs more expensive. Ands it just gives politicians more money to blow on the same nonsense they spend our money now. Especially when one looks to those who travel for bsuiness. The skilled tradesmen, the small business person who requires a vehicle to get to his/her customers.
The path to conservation is through technology.
There are ways to develop more efficent internal cumbustion engines. Lighter and stronger materials. More efficient fuel burning techniques. Alternative fuels could be used. Such as methane.
Of course there are politcal concerns as well. Try this...Suppose the methane genie is let out of the bottle and methanol bring vehicles are mass produced..What do you think happens in the Middle East when we tell those people we won't be needing nearly as much oil for autos as in the past? Think of the political and economic ramifications of a steady and endless decline in the price of oil and what that would do to the world's finacial markets..
Now, I am one person who would love to give OPEC the old Wyoming Salute and tell them and all the despots who lead the OPEC nations to stick their oil where the sun don't shine.
No..I disgagree that jacking up the price of gas will solve anything. Expensive fuel will soimply contribute to economic and financial misery.

This administration went out of it's way to stop a fast response to the disaster. They refused help from other countries when offered equipment. They went out of their way to stop the governor when he had an opportunity to help in the cleanup. This administration wanted a huge disaster in order to forward their agenda against big oil and big business because this President hates corporations and believes the only jobs worth while are government jobs.

Bingo!! We have a winner!:clap2:

The best way to cripple The United States of America is to deprive it of oil. So if you want to do that, what should we call you? HHhhhmmmmmmmmmmm? Mr. President

I get it, he is taking the fall for BP by deliberately suppressing science form government scientists that claim that the figures released by BP and the Coast Guard are deliberately misleading.

Brilliant political strategy. This guy should run for King of the World, he is a shoo in.

Wait... I remember Conservatives claiming that the spill was nothing...
Really?..Got a link or two?

To be fair, some claimed that in the larger scale this was the equivalent of a drop in the bucket when compared to the entire ocean. Of course, that was when Obama was claiming it was only 5000 barrels a day.

Wait... I remember Conservatives claiming that the spill was nothing...

Is that a defense of what Obama did?

He probably thinks it is.
