While there are numerous physical and behavioral characteristics which serve to distinguish the various ethnicities, pigmentation, i.e., "skin color," is the least significant. In fact, by the end of September in most of the summers of my youth, which were spent on one beach or other, the color of my skin was as dark as that of most Negroes -- and darker than some.

If you want to consider superior firepower as indicative of superiority then I will agree that the odds favors those who can enforce their will at the barrel of a lethal firearm. However why would a truly superior race need to legislatively secure those things needed to prosper in life while simultaneously denying those things to the perceived inferior race. Or going back a little bit further, why make it unlawful for the alleged interior race to even learn how to read?

The white race in the U.S. didn't achieve what it did solely due to it's own alleged "superiority", a significant portion was achieved through the subjugation of one race of people, the slaughter and theft of the land of another race of people and various assortments of treaties and contracts which were violated in order to achieve what it has.

Murder of James Byrd
James Byrd Jr. (May 2, 1949 – June 7, 1998) was an African-American man who was murdered by three white supremacists, in Jasper, Texas, on June 7, 1998. Shawn Berry, Lawrence Russell Brewer, and John King dragged Byrd for three miles behind a pick-up truck along an asphalt road. Byrd, who remained conscious throughout most of the ordeal, was killed when his body hit the edge of a culvert, severing his right arm and head. The murderers drove on for another mile (1500 m) before dumping his torso in front of an African-American cemetery in Jasper.[1] Byrd's lynching-by-dragging gave impetus to passage of a Texas hate crimes law. It later led to the federal Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, commonly known as the Matthew Shepard Act, which passed on October 22, 2009, and which President Barack Obama signed into law on October 28, 2009.[2]

Mascot Riots
The Escambia High School riots were racially motivated nonviolent and violent demonstrations which occurred in varying forms between 1972 and 1977 at the then-newly desegregated Escambia High School. The centerpiece riot, which received the most publicity and was the most violent demonstration, occurred on February 5, 1976.

Formerly an all-white school, Escambia High School was forcibly desegregated in 1969. However, the first black student, son of an active duty military officer, had enrolled in 1965 and attended Escambia without any incident whatsoever for approximately one year. He was welcomed into the student body by the school administration, and was assigned an escort to introduce him to the white students. He made friends quickly, was well-received, and attended until his father received orders and transferred. Several years later, in the fall of 1972, black students rioted at a home football game for their team, whose mascot was a "Rebel," modeled in appearance after the Colonel Reb of the University of Mississippi. The school band played the official school song, "Dixie," and it was from there that the violence ensued.[3] Continuing until the end of the 1972–73 academic year, blacks and other students protested the mascot, school song and use of the Confederate Flag, which was flown at school events and games, on the grounds that the imagery the items brought up were insensitive to black people. On July 24, 1973, a United States District Court ruling deemed all of the aforementioned symbols as "racially irritating" and barred their use at the school level (Augustus v. School Board of Escambia County, 361 F. Supp. 383, 1973).[4] At the beginning of the next school year, the name "Raiders" was picked to be the new name for all of Escambia High's athletic teams. Throughout 1974, the Escambia County School District appealed the decision, and on January 25, 1975, the United States Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the school board, overturning the injunction and decreeing that the school board should be in charge of the matter (Augustus v. School Board of Escambia County, 507 F.2d 152, 1975).[4]

The school board victory led to calls for a return of the Rebel nickname, and increased tensions within the school. On February 4, 1976, the school board held an unannounced election in which students were allowed to vote to either keep the name as "Raiders" or change the name back to "Rebels", if 3/4 of the student body approved. The students who preferred "Rebels" failed to secure a supermajority needed to win the ballot, by approximately 30 votes. However over 300 students had been absent on the day of the vote and they were not allowed to cast ballots. The next day, a peaceful protest to guarantee a vote to students who had not been allowed to vote the prior day degenerated into a riot which lasted over four hours in the school day.[4] Four students were shot in the violence and twenty-six students were injured by rocks and debris while the calamity involved students smashing windows and trophy cases, as well as fighting with other students.[4] It was estimated that three-quarters of the 2,523 students who attended Escambia High were involved in the riot.[4] In the aftermath, crosses were burned on many school board members' yards, with one member, who was black, specifically targeted with a gunshot which went through his window. A human relations board member as well as a state legislator also had their homes torched.[4] After all the retaliatory violence both at the school and in the community, members from the Florida Highway Patrol and numerous local law enforcement agencies combined to patrol the school until the end of the year. While waiting for a final determination from the courts and the school board; the student body selected the nickname "Patriots" to be used at school sponsored events during the 1976–77 academic year. In the spring of 1977, after hearing the courts final decision that "Rebels" was not to be reinstated the students chose "Gators" as the permanent nickname. On July 13, 1977 the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) petitioned the Escambia County School Board to hold a meeting at Escambia High School. The Escambia High School Student Body president, John Davis, successfully argued against the petition before the board.[5] The board voted 5-1 against the petition.

Marquette Park Rallies
Background
Marquette Park is the largest park on Chicago's southwest side and is in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, though the neighborhood is also called Marquette Park by most locals.


The neighborhood was developed primarily in 1920s and consists mostly of bungalows. The neighborhood developed a reputation as a "white ethnic" neighborhood as many second generation Americans of Irish, German, Polish and most notably Lithuanian descent moved to the neighborhood from other south side neighborhoods like Back of the Yards and Englewood, which was also the site of a race riot in 1949.


In 1960, just 53 of the neighborhood's 51,347 residents were non-white, and of those 53 residents, only three were black.[1] The neighborhood had garnered a reputation as a place black people would never enter.[2] Western Avenue, the official border between Marquette Park and West Englewood, became the unofficial boundary line between black and white neighborhoods on Chicago's south side.[3]


Chicago Freedom Movement

In January 1966, Dr. Martin Luther King moved to a small apartment on Chicago's west side to protest and bring attention to the poor living conditions for blacks in the city.[4] He also sought to bring attention to discrimination that blacks faced when attempting to buy homes in blue-collar white neighborhoods like Marquette Park. On July 31, 550 white and black demonstrators, not including King, marched into Marquette Park. White residents threw bricks and bottles at the protestors and burnt cars, and the Chicago Police Department seemingly did little to protect the marchers. Over 50 people were hurt and 18 cars were burnt.[5]


On August 5, 1966, King attempted to lead 700 marchers through Marquette Park and neighboring Gage Park to a real estate office on 63rd street.[6][7] King had previously lead marches into white neighborhoods elsewhere in the city and received fierce opposition.[8] The marchers were confronted by several thousand white counter-protestors, many of whom displayed Confederate flags and swastikas and attacked the marchers with bricks, bottles and cherry bombs while shouting racial insults. At one point King was struck in the head with rock and stated after the march that "I have never seen — even in Mississippi and Alabama — mobs as hostile and as hate-filled as I've seen here in Chicago". The white counter-demonstrators fought with police after the marchers left and over 40 people were arrested and more than 30 were injured over the day.[8]


Formation of the National Socialist Party of America
The violent reaction to King's attempts to march into Marquette Park attracted the attention of American Nazi Party leader George Lincoln Rockwell who travelled to Chicago in an attempt to recruit members. Rockwell organized a "White People's March" on September 10, 1966 in Gage Park which attracted about 150 supporters, an unusually large amount of support for Rockwell, who was rarely taken seriously elsewhere in the country.


In 1970, Chicago native Frank Collin founded the National Socialist Party of America (NSPA) and purchased a two-story building in Marquette Park which he named "Rockwell Hall". The NSPA had a core membership of a few dozen neighborhood youths, but enjoyed some support from other locals due to their strong opposition to integration.[2] Collin and the NSPA began holding rallies throughout the Chicago area. Most of them were held at Marquette Park, though they also held rallies in suburbs such as Cicero and Berwyn. The rallies often turned violent as groups such as the Chicago chapter of the Jewish Defense League would confront the Nazis during their rallies.[2]


1976/77 clashes
On June 6, 1976,[citation needed] around 200 NSPA members and local youths gathered at Marquette Park to confront a black group that was supposed protest inadequate housing. When the black group failed to show up, the protestors started throwing bricks and bottles and police officers and passing motorists, damaging over 200 vehicles and shooting one off-duty officer.[9] On July 17, 1976, between 1,000 and 1,500 residents of Marquette Park, including many NSPA members[9] attacked around 100 activists protesting housing discrimination with bricks and bottles, while shouting "Marquette stays white" and "go home *******".[10] Over 30 people, including 16 policemen, were injured and over 60 arrests were made.[11][12] The activists alleged the police made little effort to protect them and at least eight off-duty Chicago police officers were believed to have been involved in the attacks on the marchers.[13]


On August 21, 1976, around 250 civil rights activists attempted to march to Marquette Park but were stopped eight blocks short by police, who also stopped a crowd of about 800 whites from confronting the civil rights marchers. No injuries or serious clashes occurred but 13 people were arrested including two black men who fired guns into the air.[11]


On July 23, 1977, 20 to 30 black members of the Martin Luther King movement attempted to march into Marquette Park after the bombing of three houses owned by blacks in the neighborhood in April. The police did not allow them to march into the neighborhood, declaring it too dangerous, though several of them did and were arrested. White residents attacked black passersby, pelting cars with stones and bottles. One car containing a woman and her three children was overturned and all four had to be hospitalized. A total of 19 people were injured and 27 arrested.[14]

All white people raised in a society where racism has been (and still is) so prevalent will have internalized elements of racist thinking. So in countries where beliefs in European/white superiority has been placed. All white people will have internalized that conditioning.

There was no change in his character. All snakes are not poisonous. But just because you meet a non poisonous snake does not mean it's nature has changed. What do you think would happen if you put some deadly toxic venom and fangs in that non poisonous snake ?

Same for your friend. Yeah sure when he was a civvy. He was probably was not as openly racist but his nature was not changed. His conditioning was not changed. There are over 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers and less than one officer per state meets a violent demise, only 100 officers are killed in the line of duty each year, mostly by vehicle accidents.

City services are way worse in black ghettos. Things like trash pick-up, ambulance service, street repair but, most of all, schools and police protection. Those things are beyond the control of the ghetto. The police are not interested in protecting the lives and property of poor black people. Not as interested as they are in protecting rich white people or even not-all-that-rich white people. They will even protect white foreigners over black Americans.

When you see buildings and houses falling apart what you do not know that it is hard to get a bank loan or insurance for property in a place like that. Because the banks and insurance companies redline black ghettos, refusing to put much money there. You might think they are just being hardheaded businessmen. That would be understandable. But no, it goes beyond that into racism.

Government policies after the Second World War made it easier to get money to build a house in the suburbs than to repair an old house in the city. When I think of black ghetto's

I think of the black mothers trying to work two jobs to support their kids, without childcare, without adequate health care, having to choose between buying them clothes for school or paying a heating bill.

I think of the black kids who persevere against all odds, going to schools to learn and finding not enough textbooks, or buildings that are crumbling, and yet they still show up every day, hoping to fill their minds with knowledge.

I think of the black elderly women in public housing who look out for everyone’s children, whether or not they are their own, because they see them as a treasure and vital resource in the community.

I think of the ministers who run day care programs, and job training programs, and whose churches are involved in rehabilitating housing for low-income families.

Murder of James Byrd
James Byrd Jr. (May 2, 1949 – June 7, 1998) was an African-American man who was murdered by three white supremacists, in Jasper, Texas, on June 7, 1998. Shawn Berry, Lawrence Russell Brewer, and John King dragged Byrd for three miles behind a pick-up truck along an asphalt road. Byrd, who remained conscious throughout most of the ordeal, was killed when his body hit the edge of a culvert, severing his right arm and head. The murderers drove on for another mile (1500 m) before dumping his torso in front of an African-American cemetery in Jasper.[1] Byrd's lynching-by-dragging gave impetus to passage of a Texas hate crimes law. It later led to the federal Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, commonly known as the Matthew Shepard Act, which passed on October 22, 2009, and which President Barack Obama signed into law on October 28, 2009.[2]

Mascot Riots
The Escambia High School riots were racially motivated nonviolent and violent demonstrations which occurred in varying forms between 1972 and 1977 at the then-newly desegregated Escambia High School. The centerpiece riot, which received the most publicity and was the most violent demonstration, occurred on February 5, 1976.

Formerly an all-white school, Escambia High School was forcibly desegregated in 1969. However, the first black student, son of an active duty military officer, had enrolled in 1965 and attended Escambia without any incident whatsoever for approximately one year. He was welcomed into the student body by the school administration, and was assigned an escort to introduce him to the white students. He made friends quickly, was well-received, and attended until his father received orders and transferred. Several years later, in the fall of 1972, black students rioted at a home football game for their team, whose mascot was a "Rebel," modeled in appearance after the Colonel Reb of the University of Mississippi. The school band played the official school song, "Dixie," and it was from there that the violence ensued.[3] Continuing until the end of the 1972–73 academic year, blacks and other students protested the mascot, school song and use of the Confederate Flag, which was flown at school events and games, on the grounds that the imagery the items brought up were insensitive to black people. On July 24, 1973, a United States District Court ruling deemed all of the aforementioned symbols as "racially irritating" and barred their use at the school level (Augustus v. School Board of Escambia County, 361 F. Supp. 383, 1973).[4] At the beginning of the next school year, the name "Raiders" was picked to be the new name for all of Escambia High's athletic teams. Throughout 1974, the Escambia County School District appealed the decision, and on January 25, 1975, the United States Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the school board, overturning the injunction and decreeing that the school board should be in charge of the matter (Augustus v. School Board of Escambia County, 507 F.2d 152, 1975).[4]

The school board victory led to calls for a return of the Rebel nickname, and increased tensions within the school. On February 4, 1976, the school board held an unannounced election in which students were allowed to vote to either keep the name as "Raiders" or change the name back to "Rebels", if 3/4 of the student body approved. The students who preferred "Rebels" failed to secure a supermajority needed to win the ballot, by approximately 30 votes. However over 300 students had been absent on the day of the vote and they were not allowed to cast ballots. The next day, a peaceful protest to guarantee a vote to students who had not been allowed to vote the prior day degenerated into a riot which lasted over four hours in the school day.[4] Four students were shot in the violence and twenty-six students were injured by rocks and debris while the calamity involved students smashing windows and trophy cases, as well as fighting with other students.[4] It was estimated that three-quarters of the 2,523 students who attended Escambia High were involved in the riot.[4] In the aftermath, crosses were burned on many school board members' yards, with one member, who was black, specifically targeted with a gunshot which went through his window. A human relations board member as well as a state legislator also had their homes torched.[4] After all the retaliatory violence both at the school and in the community, members from the Florida Highway Patrol and numerous local law enforcement agencies combined to patrol the school until the end of the year. While waiting for a final determination from the courts and the school board; the student body selected the nickname "Patriots" to be used at school sponsored events during the 1976–77 academic year. In the spring of 1977, after hearing the courts final decision that "Rebels" was not to be reinstated the students chose "Gators" as the permanent nickname. On July 13, 1977 the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) petitioned the Escambia County School Board to hold a meeting at Escambia High School. The Escambia High School Student Body president, John Davis, successfully argued against the petition before the board.[5] The board voted 5-1 against the petition.

Marquette Park Rallies
Background
Marquette Park is the largest park on Chicago's southwest side and is in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, though the neighborhood is also called Marquette Park by most locals.


The neighborhood was developed primarily in 1920s and consists mostly of bungalows. The neighborhood developed a reputation as a "white ethnic" neighborhood as many second generation Americans of Irish, German, Polish and most notably Lithuanian descent moved to the neighborhood from other south side neighborhoods like Back of the Yards and Englewood, which was also the site of a race riot in 1949.


In 1960, just 53 of the neighborhood's 51,347 residents were non-white, and of those 53 residents, only three were black.[1] The neighborhood had garnered a reputation as a place black people would never enter.[2] Western Avenue, the official border between Marquette Park and West Englewood, became the unofficial boundary line between black and white neighborhoods on Chicago's south side.[3]


Chicago Freedom Movement
Main article: Chicago Freedom Movement

In January 1966, Dr. Martin Luther King moved to a small apartment on Chicago's west side to protest and bring attention to the poor living conditions for blacks in the city.[4] He also sought to bring attention to discrimination that blacks faced when attempting to buy homes in blue-collar white neighborhoods like Marquette Park. On July 31, 550 white and black demonstrators, not including King, marched into Marquette Park. White residents threw bricks and bottles at the protestors and burnt cars, and the Chicago Police Department seemingly did little to protect the marchers. Over 50 people were hurt and 18 cars were burnt.[5]


On August 5, 1966, King attempted to lead 700 marchers through Marquette Park and neighboring Gage Park to a real estate office on 63rd street.[6][7] King had previously lead marches into white neighborhoods elsewhere in the city and received fierce opposition.[8] The marchers were confronted by several thousand white counter-protestors, many of whom displayed Confederate flags and swastikas and attacked the marchers with bricks, bottles and cherry bombs while shouting racial insults. At one point King was struck in the head with rock and stated after the march that "I have never seen — even in Mississippi and Alabama — mobs as hostile and as hate-filled as I've seen here in Chicago". The white counter-demonstrators fought with police after the marchers left and over 40 people were arrested and more than 30 were injured over the day.[8]


Formation of the National Socialist Party of America
The violent reaction to King's attempts to march into Marquette Park attracted the attention of American Nazi Party leader George Lincoln Rockwell who travelled to Chicago in an attempt to recruit members. Rockwell organized a "White People's March" on September 10, 1966 in Gage Park which attracted about 150 supporters, an unusually large amount of support for Rockwell, who was rarely taken seriously elsewhere in the country.


In 1970, Chicago native Frank Collin founded the National Socialist Party of America (NSPA) and purchased a two-story building in Marquette Park which he named "Rockwell Hall". The NSPA had a core membership of a few dozen neighborhood youths, but enjoyed some support from other locals due to their strong opposition to integration.[2] Collin and the NSPA began holding rallies throughout the Chicago area. Most of them were held at Marquette Park, though they also held rallies in suburbs such as Cicero and Berwyn. The rallies often turned violent as groups such as the Chicago chapter of the Jewish Defense League would confront the Nazis during their rallies.[2]


1976/77 clashes
On June 6, 1976,[citation needed] around 200 NSPA members and local youths gathered at Marquette Park to confront a black group that was supposed protest inadequate housing. When the black group failed to show up, the protestors started throwing bricks and bottles and police officers and passing motorists, damaging over 200 vehicles and shooting one off-duty officer.[9] On July 17, 1976, between 1,000 and 1,500 residents of Marquette Park, including many NSPA members[9] attacked around 100 activists protesting housing discrimination with bricks and bottles, while shouting "Marquette stays white" and "go home *******".[10] Over 30 people, including 16 policemen, were injured and over 60 arrests were made.[11][12] The activists alleged the police made little effort to protect them and at least eight off-duty Chicago police officers were believed to have been involved in the attacks on the marchers.[13]


On August 21, 1976, around 250 civil rights activists attempted to march to Marquette Park but were stopped eight blocks short by police, who also stopped a crowd of about 800 whites from confronting the civil rights marchers. No injuries or serious clashes occurred but 13 people were arrested including two black men who fired guns into the air.[11]


On July 23, 1977, 20 to 30 black members of the Martin Luther King movement attempted to march into Marquette Park after the bombing of three houses owned by blacks in the neighborhood in April. The police did not allow them to march into the neighborhood, declaring it too dangerous, though several of them did and were arrested. White residents attacked black passersby, pelting cars with stones and bottles. One car containing a woman and her three children was overturned and all four had to be hospitalized. A total of 19 people were injured and 27 arrested.[14]
