More economic good news?

Michael Darda, economist of MKM Partners, estimates that if the U-6 method of measuring unemployment and underemployment were in place during the Depression, the rate of unemployment would have been 44%. Comparing today to the Great Depression is specious.

More people were rural and closer to being self sufficient back then.
Some areas in the country did not even notice the depression so much since there was not much change for them.
Technically underemployed though.

Everyone Felt the Depression. Some worse, some less, but they all felt it.

Not so bad in eastern KY and similiar areas.

they actually felt the war rationing more.

Also all economic growth is not good for the people. We had economic growth based on $4+ gas. Was that good for the workers paying more to drive?
Paying more to heat their homes?
More for most everything because of the increased cost to produce and transport goods?

We are currently having economic growth in part due to increased health care costs.
Is that a good thing for the average person?

What is the right price for a gallon of gas? What is the right price for a health insurance policy?

What is government's competence at managing either?

The only industries not flat on their backs right now are energy and health care.

Do we have to take them down so everyone in business is as miserable as everyone else?

Is that "equality?"

The $4.00 gas was a symptom, not the cause.

Our recent economic "growth" numbers were based upon throwing a bunch of money at state bureaucrats, who produce nothing for the economy at large...If that kind of "growth" were so beneficial, then why not just hire everybody to work for da gubmint?
