More Economic Good News- Economists agree: Stimulus created nearly 3 million jobs

No, my business is up 45% over last year. I am in the HVAC/DDC/Automation/Energy Management sector....we do a lot of things, but basically we control commerical and industrial buildings' HVAC equipment and manage energy savings through our sequences.

So you are in a maintenance industry. A recession proof industry. Good times or bad, systems in commercial and industrial properties need to be maintained. So growth in a recession that included a credit crunch is likely for a company with credit as they are able to poick up the void created by smaller competitors going under.

Like I said...good times or bad, YOURS is not a luxury to your client base. YOURS is a necessity.

VaYank...it is my job to analyze industries and make recommendations. I would recommend you grow now for sure....but most do not have the luxury of ebing in a recssion prooof industry.

Commercial and hi rise residential Real Estate management firms are doing well...accounting firms, Durable Medical Equipment firms.....all recession proof.....

Apparently, you do not know much about my industry, because I am seeing cuts in customers that are normally "recession proof", such as healthcare and government. For you to sit back wherever you are and assume that my sector is recession proof, as opposed to finding new ways to sell to my customers is insulting at best. Good luck with your analyses.

Heatring system fails, all tenants in the building must close down becasue we are in a recession and the owner of the building will not fix it.

The rich receive more because they earn more. When 34% of the tax cut goes to 1% of the population, you do not have an equatable distribution

Fact is Obama should have spent the entire stimulus on small business and public works projects. The tax cut was an ill-fated attempt to placate Republican Congressmen who didn't vote for the bill anyway.

Who paid taxes back then? The wealthy land owners

It was not till the enactment of income taxes that the middle class assumed a higher federal tax burden

The fact of the matter is that all that money did was stave off an eminent financial train wreck. In essence, spending all that money just for some very temporary effects was the worst thing OWEbama and his merry band of spend, spend, spend like the wind radical, spread the wealth around socialists could have done, because all they really did was make a bad situation worse, by about a factor of TEN!

And such is a very big industry nationwide and is deemed as one of the recession proof industries seeing as porper maintenace of HVAC is not deemed as a luxury by commercial property owners....it is a must to keep within the terms of the lease of the tenant base.

SO I am not sure what it is you are saying....but in a way, over 2 posts you said you are increasing your business by 45% in the last 10 months in an industry where you see a drop off in business....

We had three things happen at once.

First...recession...normal cycle, happens all the time every 6-8 years
Second- Housing buble collpse. Had nothing to do with the recession
Third- Credit crunch. Directly related to the housing bubble collapse.

Lessons were learned by the housing bubble collapse. Reforms were established.
Recession had nothing to do with policy. It is usally a factor of market stauration and requires nothing but the natural correction that pure competition allows for.

No one is pushing for policies that got us here.

No....what I SAID was that budgets that are normally "recession proof" are being hit. Hence, my company has to find ways to help our customers spend their dollars more wisely, and in the end, if we can help them invest those budget dollars now on efficiences that will help them save money on energy budgets in the future, everyone wins. Add to this, my expanding customer base, and you can easily see the reasons behind our increase in overall business.

Without having read any thing else in this thread, I'm not sure where this has come from. However, there is zero question that TARP saved the banking system. Whether or not the stimulus has is another question.
 
Almost half the stimulus spent thus far has been on tax breaks.

I guess tax breaks don't work.

I understand. But that goes back to my original point. They can not eiminate their budgets..they need to maximize their budgets. That is what makes you recession proof. You are needed in good times and bad. Like a plumber in residential....a pipe bursts, good times or bad, yoiu need to call a plumber. You may not replace the wet carpet in a recession, but the pipe needs to be fixed.

As for your increase in reach....you have smaller competitors that are going under or mimizing their staff due to loss of credit or whatever is causing them to go under. You have a business model that allowed for loss of credit and a recession at the same time...so you survivied and you can now fill the void created by those tha went under.

All industries that service commercial real estate are deemed as recession proof as there are tenants that depend on the building being serviced. When there is a contract (lease in this case) with a thrid party, it tends to make i reesson proof.
