They also enforce laws against Americans who buy prescription drugs in countries other than America (They prosecuted Rush for that). Perhaps if the feds were not so dead set in favor of enforcing laws that exist entirely to protect American business interests against competitors, they would have more resources. If I were running ICE, and was told that the city was not going to notify me when an undocumented alien could be released at any time, I would have an agent down at the courthouse every day.

But, I live 35 miles from the Mexican border, and every year, when I reach the Medicare donut hole on RX, I simply ignore the law, and buy my scripts in Mexico. I actually get kind of a kick reading the signs at the American border crossing telling me how many years in the slammer I can get for smuggling my 6 months supply of oral antibiotics across the border. They make me feel kind of important, like I am moving up on their 10 most wanted list!
