A boy from the village of Setbo in Cambodia has found solace in cuddling a giant sized snake which he eats and sleeps with it.
The boy, identified as Uorn Sambath is said to be obsessed with snakes and has been living with a female Burmese python since his childhood.
The 16-feet long python named Chamroeun, meaning “Progress” weighs 220-pounds.
The python, it is said, hasn’t munched on anybody. However, it only feeds on chicken, 22-pound a week.
The unusual bond between the boy and the python has turned their village into a tourist attraction.
According to the boy’s family, it is quite a financial challenge taking care of the python but they love the fact that it lives with them.
Sambath’s mother, Kim kannara says that before he was born, she dreamt of a snake that will come to protect them.
When Sambath was 3 months old, she discovered the reptile coiled under the woven mat of their bed, about thumb size then. His father, Khuorn Sam Ol, said he took away the snake and let it go into the wild, but two weeks later, he discovered the snake back in his house. They both decided to let it stay with them and the python grew along with the boy.
While it is alright to keep pets, having dangerous animals as pets should not be tolerated. The authorities in that country should be able to safeguard the lives of residents in that village by taking possession of the wild beast.
If nothing is done about such cases, it will only encourage other young lads to do similar things.
