Ah, such trials of life those Manhattanites face every day. Just another example of how New Yorkers are total douchebags.

Of course a Manhattan mother is suing her daughter's Upper East Side preschool for failing to prepare her 4-year-old for the Ivy League. And of course her lawyers actually used the phrase "getting a child into the Ivy League starts in nursery school" in their lawsuit. The mom, Nicole Imprescia, says York Avenue Preschool's crime (presumably besides the $19,000-a-year tuition) was forcing little Lucia to spend too much time with 2-year-olds and 3-year-olds. Slackers, no doubt. Imprescia says the school should have been focused on preparation for the ERB, an admissions exam required by almost all elite private elementary schools. "Indeed," the suit alleges, "the school proved not to be a school at all but just one big playroom." Imprescia yanked her daughter out after just three weeks and wants her money back, despite a no-refund policy.

Yeah, this is pretty ridiculous. Not surprising though. I've heard Manhattan parents say that they had to get their kids into a specific preschool otherwise they wouldn't get into an Ivy League school. That's pretty fucked up.

That is hysterical!

Maybe now she'll home school her daughter instead. I'm sure the mom's qualified to prep her daughter from age 4-18 for the Ivy League.

What's fucked up - a system where Ivy League Schools actually look at where an applicant went to preschool, or the fact that parents are claiming this is the situation when it isn't?

Political Chic is in the news again.

I told you so, I told you so. LMAO, too funny, the parents are nuts and they are nuts on all class levels and economic levels. What the heck happened.

PoliticalChic, Please take note.

She should send her kid to the same preschool Barrack Obama went to in Kenya......

And are you paying for this sort of service?

This person is paying top dollar for a service. If the service is not provided, she has every right to seek a remedy in court.

It doesn't make "Manhattanites (Whatever the fuck that is..) "Douchebags".

Really?

Then when do parents get to sue gubmint schools, which issue diplomas to their kids who can't read or write?

When do the victims of Vioxx and Phen-fen get to sue the FDA for their negligence?

After all, the services were paid for, yet poorly delivered.

Any time they want. They can go hire lawyers and sue.

Yes it does.

What this mother and you don't understand is the "service" is simply documenting you're willing to pay out the wazzo for preschool therefore broadcasting to "ivy league" schools you will pay out the wazzo then too.
