Mohammed Morsi leads votes for Time Person of the Year

The magazine kicked off the countdown to their annual list with an online poll to decide which person has, for better or for worse, had the strongest influence on world news over the past 12 months.

The poll asks if each person should be the Person of the year with options either "Definitely" or "No Way". Although Time's editors choose the person of the year, it has still invited people to vote for who they think should win.

'The Protester' took last year's title in recognition of the Arab Spring. Sticking with the Middle East, Mr Morsi has taken an early lead in the 2012 voting for both categories.
