Modest Mouse

I hadn't really discovered it until my cousin burned me a copy at Christmas, but Modest Mouse's "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" is one of the best albums of the year. It's a real downer (sample lyrics: "Are you dead or are you sleeping?/God, I sure hope you are dead) and you kinda have to listen to it a few times to really appreciate it, but it's worth it, it is one of the most original sounds I've ever heard.

Dan, knowing your tastes, if I had known that you hadn't heard of Modest Mouse, I would have recommended them to you.

But it's a bit too soft for my tastes.

Hard to say. I'd say just get the album, I'm sure you can find it for pretty cheap on the internet *wink-wink*. I guess the only band I would compare them to is The Pixies, but they're a lot softer than the Pixies. I'm sure you've probably heard "Float On", they've been using it on a lot of sports highlight reels lately.

But, yeah, check them out. Speaking of which, did you ever listen to that H.I.M. CD you got when I was up there?
