Modern Conservatism, Modern liberalism

Okay so we had a reading lesson in poli sci today and here are some things i learned, but kinda already knew about the left and right.

Modern Liberals support high government involvement in industry and businesses, but little to none in social issues.
What does "high government involvement" mean? Your definition leaves very much open to interpretation. "Socialism" could be an extreme of that, but when was the last time you heard a liberal calling for the government to take over all industry? I'd say that modern liberals would be more Keynesian capitalists than socialists.

Modern conservatives support little to no government involvement in industry and business, but high government involvement in social issues.
Once again, a very simplified and open-ended definition. I'd submit to you that not 2 conservatives or liberals believe in exactly the same things, so your entire point is pretty much moot.

Socialism
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

In definition, modern liberals are socialists. haha.
Maybe if you're in high school.

Once again, the tendency to over-simply and generalize just kinda makes you look foolish. Why do you think there are so many different words people put in front of "liberal" or "conservative" (neo-conservative, classical liberal, paleo-conservative, neo-liberal). Neither "liberal" nor "conservative" have any agreed upon definition anymore.

Once again, your point is moot.

Today's "Liberals" have become Socialists and today's "Conservatives" have become Liberals or NeoCons. There really aren't too many true Liberals and true Conservatives left in this country. For example,I don't know of any true Liberals who would kneel to lick a National Socialist's boots like most current Democrats do with Hugo Chavez. The man is currently in the process of shutting down all opposition Media in Venezuela. No true Liberal could ever support such brutal suppression of Free Speech. So today's Democrats are not Liberals but are instead now Socialists. Another example would be how most Republicans fully supported George Bush's numerous foreign interventions and insane spending back when they had power. No true Conservative would support all these aggressive foreign interventions and massive debt spending. So most of today's Republicans are not Conservatives but are instead now Liberals or Neocons. Unfortunately i don't see much difference between the Socialists and Neocons at this point. At the end of the day they both fully support aggressive Globalism. So i can't support either one. Both parties are currently being redefined and i'm pretty sure more & more people do not like these new definitions. Time for a Third Party? You bet!

There is no such thing as a "true" Conservative or "true Liberal. The ideology itself is not pure. It is rather polarizing to try and assert that such exist.

The political labels you are throwing around in broad generalized terms, are just that labels. Will political labels in and of themselves save the Republic from the very employers that fervently cling to them?

In my opinion, political labels are meaningless. It is what a person believes and acts upon, that is the determining factor, not some political club lapel pin.

The " us vs them" political game. Is that what the professor is teaching? If it is, he or she is doing a disservice to you, by giving you talking points, instead of actual history.

I think this video will come in handy for you, seeing how you are into using herd mentality talking points to address individual action or the lack thereof.

Oh for pity sake that is the dumbest example I've ever seen. Actual reality says that if you were lucky the local liberal might drive you to the local welfare office, and hasn't left his front door unlocked in forty years. Adn when he does have a cabin in the woods it's a compund behind a ten foot high chain link fence.

Conservatives generally being Christians are all for charity unless the government does it in which case it isn't charity but theft once removed.

Libertarians are a mixed bag, ever one has some liberatarian tendencies. The original libertarian party was (by that name) was fiscally conservative and socially liberal. The latter in the sense of screw anything you want if it can give consent, do what ever drugs you want, leave me the hell a lone and if you get sick from any of those things you've done tough shit dude you should of been more careful.
