Mod Question

This morning I started a new thread. As soon as I submitted it I noticed that just a few minutes earlier Matthew had started a new thread (different subject) as well. Neither thread had any views or comments yet. But in the left column I noticed my thread was marked OLD and his was marked NEW.

Why is that?

I believe it is because you already viewed yours at that moment.
The "new" and "old" labels are different for everyone...what you see as old, someone else might see as new because you viewed it an they didn't.

At least that is how I figured it worked.
For instance - this thread was marked "new" before I viewed it - now I see "old"

I'll be damned. I've been here 2 years and never noticed those little icons.. New/old/hot etc.

That explains that, but I'm still confused by 2 month old, 4 post threads that are labelled HOT!
