Mitt Romney's Gay Spokesman: A Milestone in Republican Politics

Why is the GOP so afraid of gays anyway? To each his own. If you believe in less govt then what do you care about anyone else's lifestyles? Its NONE of your business.

For some reason, they see gays as, well, "forbidden fruit". So delectable. Finger licking good. Spicy. One's not enough. So enticing. In fact, for many right wingers, breath the same air and you might get "turned".

How are you such an expert on how all republicans feel? Do you now represent all republicans.

Deany THINKS he is in our psyche...which is why he keeps getting soundly drubbed and he digs a deeper hole...while WE fill in the hole with him in it.

Not true that GOP is against gays. I am Repub. Speaking for myself and many of my Repub friends, we are for gay marriage and have no issues regarding gays. I think the left like to pretend, but as far as I know, only really religious people have an issue with gays. Many Democrats say they are Christians, so wouldn't many of them be against gay marriage because of their religion? And Muslims are against them. Hispanics are often Catholic, which are against gay marriage. I'm just pointing this out because somehow it's always the right who are accused of being homophobic and I don't think that is accurate.

It's more of a religious thing, not a party thing.

Give me a break. When you vote for leaders that have a certain agenda, you can't say "I vote for them, but I don't share their agenda". That's just outright ridiculous.

Mitt Romney's Gay Spokesman: A Milestone in Republican Politics - Politics

As Grenell told the gay magazine The Advocate of his unsuccessful attempt to get his partner listed in the U.N.'s "Blue Book" of diplomatic personnel and their spouses: "Some people are going to yell at me, because it's been a quiet fight. I think a lot of people's style is to do a quiet fight." Not, by implication, his.

Michelangelo Signorile: What Romney's Choice of a Gay Spokesman Means

He is also a staunch and vocal advocate for what much of the Republican base believes is an effort to destroy the institution of marriage. As I noted two days ago, Grenell told Kerry Eleveld of The Advocate in 2008 that though he and his partner met in New York, he lamented that they couldn't marry there at the time. "It is not an option for us in New York, but hopefully someday soon it will be," he said. "In my mind, and in Matt's mind, this is it. We're married."

-------------------------------------------------

This might be the second "Etch a Sketch" moment. The base isn't going to like it.

Don't forget Ken Mehlman (not to be confused with Larry "Bud" Melman from Letterman) who was GW Bush's 2004 campaign manager and the Chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2005 to 2007.

Go look in the mirror asswipe.

i actually think that is very much the case. He was forced to move very far right and appear rigid to win the primary. His record is quite open to more moderate ideas.

good.

So you are saying he lied to his base?

No, I am writing that he appears more open minded than it seemed at first glance. NOW, name any candidate that DOESN'T stress differing issues at times to get votes.

rdean, instead of more trash tossed at him, why isn't he getting applause for being open minded?

Because he is not open minded. Give this some thought.

This forum is not a good cross section of rw's - or at least it doesn't seem to be. The rw's I read in other places are very nervous because Mitt changes almost daily. What he is doing now, changing everything he has said the past few months, is very obviously, pandering.

What Mitt is open to is money. That is the one constant through his life ad through his career of making business decisions that would line his pockets.

Just like Norquist said, if he's elected, he'll do what his owners tell him to do.

THAT is why he got big bucks. They bought him.

What IS a good cross-section? Are you an EXPERT? On multiple ones are you?

WHO is paying YOU to report it?

Whom is paying YOU to be here?

YES I'm outting YOU.

THEY again. Romney is wealthy enough to buy THEM at any rate................................

Are you saying that Mitt's dozens of flip flops are just his way of suckering us in and getting us to vote for him?

If so, I agree with you.

Yes, he is a candidate for office; you would prefer someone unable to change their mind?

Why didn't the right applaud Obama for getting Bin Laden instead of trying to take credit?

Why did the Mormon church spend millions of charity money to harass the gays in California?

Why do Republicans want to teach mysticism along side science?

Why do Republicans support a man they call a member of a cult but call a true Christian a Muslim?

So many questions. So little time.

Oh no, lots of time.

Obama didn't get Bin Laden, the military did.

The Mormon church, the last I heard, spent 180 K on the prop 8. The next question is how come so many blue latinos and blacks voted in support of the ban and yet you keep your asshole mouth shut about that and chose to foucs only where it fits your interests ? The church did not harass gays, they participated in a democratic process which was then overturned, for better or for worse, by an idiot judge. The left applauded that. They want democracy as long as it suites them.

What you call mysticism others call religion. The fact that you have no respect for other people's points of view is all to evident in your posts. The real question is: Why can't local districts teach what they want. Under our Dept of Education and NCLB we have essentially tanked our kids learning. Good job dems

And what does Romneys religion got to do with anything ? The last I heard there were only six mormons who strapped bombs to their backs and blew up innocent women and children. Oh wait....those were......

So few smart liberals...and even fewer intelligent questions.

It's happening already. Romney is becoming moderate.

Sen. John McCain, a top Romney surrogate, told reporters on Tuesday that the presumptive nominee supports immigration reform, despite Romney’s statements to the contrary, reports the Huffington Post. Romney does not support a path to citizenship, a key element of comprehensive reform.

“He’s already said that immigration reform is something that he’s committed to,” McCain said.

McCain also denied that Romney supports a policy of self-deportation, the idea behind the Arizona and Alabama immigration laws – though Romney has touted self-deportation as “the answer.”

“No he hasn’t. He’s said that’s one of the options he’s looked at,” McCain said. “So don’t put words in his mouth.”

But in a GOP primary debate in January, Romney expressed support for the policy:

The answer is self-deportation, which is people decide they can do better by going home because they can’t find work here because they don’t have legal documentation to allow them to work here.
