Should Pubs be rewarded for putting us in this mess (WORLD DEPRESSION and dumbazz wars, huge growth of AlQaeda), and now paralyzing the gov't since 2/2010 (and they even lie about THAT)?

"No compromise, un-American Tea Party GOP" (TIME).

Why in the world do you vote for these disastrous, lying incompetents?

I thought people of your "ilk" hated law enforcement?

Anyone who has read my posts, you fucking shitstain, knows what a strong supporter I am of the police.

Because I feel the Republican Party has become extreme, ignorant, dangerous to the country doesn't translate into a lack of support for either the military or law enforcement.

It's your kind that feel they are patriotic even as they bring down the economy and send young Americans off to war for no other reason than to die. Republican ideals are much closer to al Qaeda than to the the American Middle class. Let him die? Applauding executions? Those are your ideals and ethics, not mine.

I don't call "American helping American" the path to "socialism".

Dean your an asshole.....you take quotes from pretty dam Conservative people or the fringe and attribute that to anyone on the right, and to top it off you put a spin on it to try and make it look worse.....like your education and science bullshit.....i deliver mail to many Conservatives who are college educated and get all over their kids for doing bad in school.....if i did the same to the people on the left as you do to the right i would get treated just like you get treated, only from 90% of the Liberals here.....you are an obsessed idiot and should seek some help....

The wars that were started by a Republican President (Bush) claimed less than 5,000 lives.
The war that was started by a Democratic president and stopped by a Republican President, you know, the Viet Nam war claimed lives ten times that. And those were all DRAFTED by the force of Democratic congress and Democratic President, while the military deaths in recent wars were all volunteers.

It is Democrats who want to keep cop-killer Mumia alive, perhaps you among them.
It is Democrats who want to hush up the murder of a border agent. Just ask Holder. No, never mind, that pathetic imitation of an Attorney General will only lie, just like his boss.

I saw Americans helping Americans for 11 years, while I spent at least a week of my vacation time on Habitat for Humanity projects. All my fellow volunteers were conservatives/Republicans.

Obama wants to cut spending- not by cutting teachers and police jobs or social programs- SMART stuff- military etc etc, look it up, and taxing the BLOATED rich. Pubs paralyze congress, refuse the usual jobs bills, everything! and lie. Obama did NOT have 2 years of supermajority, Romney plans no spending cuts in total but on Medicare, and tax cuts on the rich. Insanity...

HEY! VPs like Cheney can't net 3/4 of a million a year on a salary of $230,000 a year unless we spend big on the military industrial complex. (I bet Mrs. Cheney really was a bargain shopper.)

So Jeb Bush must be an asshole too. He says he's not "conservative" enough for this Republican party, which he refers to as "troubling".

Since when did cops, firefighters and teachers become a federal concern?

Since Rdean decided it was

Since nearly 200,000 teachers have been laid off.

Still not a Federal Concern.

How many Non-Union workers have lost their jobs in the last 3 years? 15 million, 20 million?

How many Non-Union Workers have lost their homes in the last 3 years? 3 million, 3.5 million?

Compare 200k teachers to real stats :cuckoo:

We don't need more teachers, we need to get rid of the bad ones and replace them with good ones. As for firefighters and police ... That's a state and city and county issue, each will decide what they need based on their personal demand
The states already have cut teachers and other government jobs, it's why the employment numbers are so low.

Look it's a trick. Who cuts teachers, UNIONS DING DING! Why you ask? Well if you ask them to pay for benefits, they'll take the layoffs instead. And the young teachers get cut, the old bags that worked the system stay and teach like crap, because they cant lose anything.

Fewer firemen mean a longer response time.

More police mean less crime.

Children do better with a smaller class size.

If Republicans can dispute these claims, go ahead. I dare you.

We've Become a Nation of Takers, Not Makers
...hugely beneficial productivity improvements in such traditional industries as farming, manufacturing, financial services and telecommunications. These produce far more output per worker than in the past. The typical farmer, for example, is today at least three times more productive than in 1950.

Where are the productivity gains in government? Consider a core function of state and local governments: schools. Over the period 1970-2005, school spending per pupil, adjusted for inflation, doubled, while standardized achievement test scores were flat. Over roughly that same time period, public-school employment doubled per student, according to a study by researchers at the University of Washington. That is what economists call negative productivity.

But education is an industry where we measure performance backwards: We gauge school performance not by outputs, but by inputs. If quality falls, we say we didn't pay teachers enough or we need smaller class sizes or newer schools. If education had undergone the same productivity revolution that manufacturing has, we would have half as many educators, smaller school budgets, and higher graduation rates and test scores.

The same is true of almost all other government services. Mass transit spends more and more every year and yet a much smaller share of Americans use trains and buses today than in past decades. One way that private companies spur productivity is by firing underperforming employees and rewarding excellence. In government employment, tenure for teachers and near lifetime employment for other civil servants shields workers from this basic system of reward and punishment. It is a system that breeds mediocrity, which is what we've gotten.

Most reasonable steps to restrain public-sector employment costs are smothered by the unions. Study after study has shown that states and cities could shave 20% to 40% off the cost of many services—fire fighting, public transportation, garbage collection, administrative functions, even prison operations—through competitive contracting to private providers. But unions have blocked many of those efforts. Public employees maintain that they are underpaid relative to equally qualified private-sector workers, yet they are deathly afraid of competitive bidding for government services.

Mitt Romney Criticizes President Obama For Wanting To Hire More Police, Firemen and Teachers - YouTube

This time, however, Romney deserves points for honesty: He has forthrightly declared that the class of government workers holding back other Americans does include cops, firefighters and teachers. And in so doing, he has singlehandedly reframed the debate from one over despised government bureaucrats to one over whether we should hire more cops, firefighters and teachers to get the economy going. This is a debate the White House will be happy to have.

Mitt Romney: We don't need more cops, firefighters or teachers - The Washington Post

-----------------------------

Wow, the problem is policemen, firemen and teachers.

Now it's clear why Republicans worked so very hard to keep health care from the first responders. Now, the right wingers at USMB can't possibly say that's not true.

As usual, "rdean" makes a feeble attempt to pass off OPINIONS as facts.

As usual, "rdean" takes outrageous liberties with "context", and makes up his own "facts".

Yawns............................
How is that actually making opinions facts considering it is pretty much the direct quote from Romney saying wisconsin told us we do not need more cops, firemen, or teachers. There are a lot of government programs i think we can cut, but I am pretty much for people who risk their lives running into burning buildings and arresting violent criminals who tear up our neighborhoods. I am also pretty sure some new and actually good teachers might help to do things like educate our kids. These are things that actually improve life in america. Are our lives actually improved by increasing funding to the pentagon to make more advanced weapons of war to shoot farmers with? Is our country improved by giving tax breaks to the people who already have a shit ton of money and taxing poor people to cover welfare for the rich? Are less jobs for american workers actually bad things? It is not like we can outsource cops and firemen. Think about the response time a chinese worker being paid 5 cents an hour would have.

Really, you are going to need some of these people when Romney becomes president. Who is going to protect the rich neighborhoods when the poor revolt? Who is going to put out their mansions and corporate headquarters when the poor toss firebombs into them? If you are going to impoverish 99 percent of your society in order to make the less than one percent a little bit richer you probably want a well paid police force. Look at the despots of the world who make an elite class of people while fucking most of their population over. They need well paid and loyal police and military to protect them. Those are not volunteer military and some shitty paid police like we have in america, and that money buys loyalty. Who is going to stop us from burning down Mitt's house when we are all starving and poor? There is only so much blackwater can do before being overrun by massive numbers. On top of that he has to at least wait for Obama to do what he has never even mentioned and remove our firearms.

You Mitt fanboys are so silly.

Yep, can't afford the pensions on the ones we have now so why don't we...

...hire some more! :uhoh3:

Really, why don't we save a whole lot of money and fire the ones we got if that is your opinion. Then we can have anarchy and wouldn't life be grand the next time some idiot right winger stands up and decides to kick a mexican out of the country and gets strung up for it. Then we can all go shopping in your house. Not that we would pay you anything but some fast moving lead for your troubles. Then onto wall street where we can take what we want from those pussies in suits. Then finally the next guy who steps up and tells us how wrong we all are because of his stupid religion we can send him to talk personally with his maker.

maybe you are right and a little bit of anarchy would be cool. Without laws and police to enforce them the only respect people will have for your life is the respect you demand with your power. Is that really the type of life you want to live just to get a black man out of the presidency he only has 4 more years of if he gets elected again?
