In the 118th Congress which began in January 2023, 34 percent of Senators were between the ages of 60 and 69 - more than any other age group.

To put it in perspective the oldest four senators combined age is older than our country.

Just voted in a Convention of States poll for which new Constitutional Amendments I supported.
The ones I can recall are:
1. Limit Senators to two 6-year terms and congressmen to six 2-year terms
2. Mandatory retirement age of 75
3. Limit employment in Federal government to 24-years
4. Require a Federal Balanced Budget
5. Remove Education from Federal government
6. Supreme Court justices serve 12-years and USSC comprised of only 9-justices.

This is just another fall out from the fact this country is so polarized.
We vote for the same damn people no matter how bad they are - only because the "correct" letter is next to their name.
This is a national embarrassment and hopefully a wake up call to the absurdity of people staying in power years and even a DECADE longer than they should.
INCLUDING the President.
Obviously.

Another point - there is a time in a human life where the wisdom that indeed comes with age, becomes compromised due to a deterioration of cognitive speed and ability.
That moment is not the same for everyone, but at 58. I have seen it happen to all of my grandparents, now passed, and my parents and my spouses parents.
It is unavoidable and people reaching this point have ZERO business in a position of power.
