Eight Ole Miss players kneel in response to rally

Minutes before the game, both teams formed lines for the anthem. As "The Star-Spangled Banner" began, six Rebels players -- who appeared to be KJ Buffen, D.C. Davis, Brian Halums, Luis Rodriguez, Devontae Shuler and Bruce Stevens -- knelt one by one. Two more players -- appearing to be Breein Tyreeand Franco Miller Jr. -- took a knee on the song's final line.

The game was being played while two pro-Confederacy groups organized a march onto the campus in Oxford, Mississippi.

"This was all about the hate groups that came to our community to try to spread racism and bigotry," Davis said. "It's created a lot of tension for our campus. Our players made an emotional decision to show these people they're not welcome on our campus, and we respect our players' freedom and ability to choose that.''

Republicans keep talking about Democrats being racist. But it's Today's Republicans that are the confederates. And Lincoln wasn't a Confederate. It was the racist confederates that were defeated.

Before the 1960's, it was the Democrats who were confederates.

Now, it't the Republicans.

How white supremacist candidates fared in 2018

Self-described Nazis did poorly, but candidates linked to white supremacist groups did quite well. (and ran as Republican)

Mehh. A big nothingburger.

"Based on comments in the BluegrassPreps message board, the intent of the black body paint was not racial but was instead a school tradition related to “black out” games, during which fans wore black to support the team."

FACT CHECK: Is This Picture from a Covington Catholic High School Basketball Game?
From your link:

Regardless of intent, however, the photograph is an authentic depiction of a Covington Catholic basketball game

----------

FYI:

White people wearing black face, regardless of intent, is historically racist, offensive and insulting.

Did I really have to explain that?

It's school sports cheering, ya dumb bunny. Not like any of them are running for Governor of Virginia. How about these people? I see green, white, and yellow.

Are they being being racist, offensive, and insulting to Irish people and orientals?

Simple solution here. Have your comrades stop the ISIS style purging of relevant history in this country and there won't BE any "confederacy monuments" rallies...

Those folks didn't start this round...

Good for them.

It’s encouraging to see young people exercising their right to political expression, particularly during these times of hostility toward such free political expression from the repressive right.

Check your privilege. White savior Deanrd knows what's best for southerners and black americans even if they're too uneducated to understand.

A long as they're not wearing a MAGA hat, right?

Good thing about southern and black Americans, they both pitched in to destroy fascism. Sad there is still of that human garbage still around today.
