Missiles Over Hawaii (False Flag?)

Was the recent ballistic missile scare over Hawaii really false flag operation? Somebody pressed the wrong button? Really? Think about it......Decades after the cold war nothing similar has happened. Only now when Rocket Man' may have the capability to deliver a Nuke to our shores. Suddenly we have a ballistic missile alert that turns out to be false.

It was a state exercise and some nimrod pushed the wrong button. That is all.

Relax and have a nice day!

Ya....I hear ya. Just seems strange that it would happen now.

Idiots happen all the time!

We had a saying in the Navy. "There is no such thing as anything that is sailor-proof." There is always a bigger idiot sailor waiting to prove you wrong.

ABikerSailor can back me up on this!

Yep. Admiral is right on this one. But, in some cases, the idiocy can be so legendary, that it takes a while for a bigger idiot to come along.

I've been witness to several of those. The most notable one I can think of we nicknamed "Chowline", because he fell for damn near every prank in the book. He actually went looking for 50 ft. of chowline.

The best one was when we sent him after batteries for the sound powered phones. He went to every deck of every hold looking for them, and finally an SK2 gave him a 50 lb box of small weights that he carried from the bottom of Hold 2 all the way up to the bridgewing. When he got there, he gave the box to a YN2 who was teaching him how to stand watch, and when Joe opened them up, he said "you idiot, these are the wrong size!". Dude damn near started crying because he'd been running around the ship for around 45 min.

The rest of us were rolling on the floor laughing at him.

By the way, sound powered phones are just that, they are powered by sound. No batteries required.

Yeah, relative bearing grease, flight line, mail buoy watch, sea bats, BT punch, etc!

Although, to be fair, there are also people who are legendary for their ability to get the job done, even when it sounds impossible.

Had a BT on my first ship that was told by the Chief to fetch a bucket of steam. Now, normally, that is something that is damn near impossible to do, but this guy went down to the HT shop, grabbed some metal, and made a bucket with a top on it with a heating element in the bottom. He filled it with a bit of water, lit off the heating element and took the bucket to the Chief, where he let off a pressure release valve and steam came out.

The whole shop was impressed.

Anything is possible when you have a Deep State who hates the President so much.

Whatever.:dunno:
Wait? No "god bless the Hawaiians who were scared!"?

I'll bet the guy who pushed the "Wrong button" has a name that rhymes with Barack Hussein Obama

LOL what was he supposed to do about a fake missile attack in Hawaii? He knew it was fake he knew it was a stunt by the liberals, what EXACTLY should he have done?

He tweets about everything else, so why couldn't he tweet that this was a false alarm engineered by the Democrats in Hawaii to make him look bad?

A missile launched by ANY country on Earth is immediately tracked by the US military. Once a trajectory is computed our forces are alerted and ready to retaliate. If a missile were targeted on any US soil we'd launch from a sub near the target before the incoming missile hit the ground.

I mean the US population has to damn well grow up. The concept of MAD, mutually assured destruction, is still in force. Every country knows without question, you attack the US with one nuclear weapon and you end yourself. Doesn't matter what happens to the US, YOU and your way of life end. China, Russia, and Kim Jong Drooly-cup know this without question. Doesn't matter what rhetoric they put out, they know.

Get it through your heads conspiracy whacks. NOBODY will ever attack us. It will always be a false alarm. If a moment were to come where it was real then that would mean WW3 has started and likely 3-4 billion people are about to die.

Get a grip on your paranoia.

Hawaii has been running ballistic missile warning drills. They didn't for a very long time. They have now because of the recent conflicts.

Making the odds of screwing up one of these drills much higher....now that Hawaii is running them regularly again.

I read an article that said that the warning system hadn't been used for over 30 years, and they only started to stand it back up in 2017. Now, you have to figure that marrying the technology from 30 years ago to the tech we have today is gonna involve some things that aren't compatible, and probably more than a few bugs.

I say we wait and see what the investigation yields before screaming partisan bullcrap or hollering for someone's head.

If the private sector did anything this incompetent, you can bet Biden/Obama would be right there saying "give us $20B or we will take it" (like BP).

GOVT does it? No harm no foul. Raises for all!

The only people blaming anyone is the democrats claiming trump did it.

This stems from America's foolish political philosophy of making enemies before making enemies. North Korea has repeatedly stated that "if the United States stops joint military exercises in the east China sea, he will abandon it himself."
Lets see he also said in 1990's he would not build nukes if we sold him technology for civilian use, he agreed in the 2000's to stop the program for other considerations and he told Obama he would stop too. In other words he is a Liar that can not be trusted to do what he says.

This warning was sent by Hawaii Emergency Management Agency...

"The Hollywood movie scene has someone pushing a red button on a control console. HawaiiNewsNow.com reports that a rather mundane act generated Hawaii's false alert: a single HI-EMA employee selected the wrong option on a confusing drop-down computer menu checklist."

"That menu is a mess. On the menu, the "drill" is in close proximity with other choices. Moreover, the state civil defense drill and the for real U.S. Pacific Command civil defense warning for Hawaii option (an attack warning) nest among other options, including high surf and tsunami warnings."

" 8:05 a.m. January 13: instead of selecting the state-PACOM civil defense warning drill, the employee clicked the PACOM civil defense warning option. Then he compounded his error by clicking "yes" on "a second (computer) confirmation page." The false warning was immediately transmitted to the public.

Yes, two mistakes on two separate pages, by one employee, that can generate an automatic message instantaneously alerting 1 million people. Then it took HI-EMA almost 40 minutes to send out a wide-area alert cancellation notice."

Learning From Hawaii's False Missile Attack Fiasco

HI-EMA gets confirmation of an attack warning from United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) before any warnings are distributed. This particular morning HI-EMA was having a drill exercise and a State employee fucked up... Bottom line...

And yes I received the message on my android cell phone...

Top Official Resigns after False Missile Alert in Hawaii
30 Jan 2018 — Hawaii's emergency management leader has resigned and a state employee who sent an alert falsely warning of an incoming ballistic missile has been fired, officials said Tuesday, weeks after the mistake caused widespread panic.
Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Administrator Vern Miyagi stepped down Tuesday, state Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Joe Logan said. A second agency worker quit before disciplinary action was taken and another was being suspended without pay, Logan said in announcing results of an internal investigation. The fallout came the same day the Federal Communications Commission revealed that the worker who pushed out the alert thought an actual attack was imminent. It was the first indication the Jan. 13 alert was purposely sent, adding another level of confusion to the misstep that left residents and tourists believing their lives were about to end. The state emergency agency worker believed the attack was real because of a mistake in how the drill was initiated during a shift change, the FCC said in a report. The worker said he didn't hear the word "exercise" repeated six times even though others clearly heard it.

There was no requirement to double-check with a colleague or get a supervisor's approval before sending the blast to cellphones, TV and radio stations statewide, the agency said. "There were no procedures in place to prevent a single person from mistakenly sending a missile alert" in Hawaii, said James Wiley, a cybersecurity and communications reliability staffer at the FCC. The worker, who was fired Friday and whose name has not been revealed, has confused real-life events and drills in the past, the state said in a report. His poor performance has been documented for years, and other members of the team say they were not comfortable working with him in any role.

Cars drive past a highway sign that says "MISSILE ALERT ERROR THERE IS NO THREAT" on the H-1 Freeway in Honolulu.

The employee heard a recorded message that began by saying "exercise, exercise, exercise" — the script for a drill, the FCC said. Then the recording used language that is typically used for a real threat, not a drill: "this is not a drill." The recording ended by saying "exercise, exercise, exercise." Once the employee sent the false alert, he was directed to send a cancel message but instead "just sat there and didn't respond," according to the state's report on its internal investigation. Later, another employee took over the computer and sent the correction because the worker "seemed confused." Compounding the issues was that the agency lacked any preparation in how to correct the false alert. The federal agency, which regulates the nation's airwaves and sets standards for such emergency alerts, criticized the state's delay in correcting it.

In addition, software at Hawaii's emergency agency used the same prompts for both test and actual alerts, and it generally used prepared text that made it easy for a staffer to click through the alerting process without focusing enough on the text of the warning that would be sent. The FCC said the state Emergency Management Agency has already taken steps to try to avoid a repeat of the false alert, requiring more supervision of drills and alert and test-alert transmissions. It has created a correction template for false alerts and has stopped ballistic missile defense drills until its own investigation is done.
