GAZA, (PIC)-- As the amnesty announced by the Interior Ministry of the Palestinian government in Gaza approaches its end, a ministry spokesman stated that the ministry is getting ready for a campaign to detain suspected collaborators.

Ihab al-Ghusain, the Interior Ministry spokesman said on Thursday, on an open frequency radio broadcast and in which most local radio stations in Gaza participated, that the ministry was gearing up for the campaign and said that those charged, tried and found to be guilty will receive the maximum penalty.

He urged collaborators to use the remaining couple of days of the amnesty to hand themselves over to the authorities and promised them that they will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence and that they will be allowed to go home as soon as their particulars have been taken.

He added that the ministry has prepared files on all suspected collaborators and that it was ready to detain all of them as soon as the amnesty ends.

He said that those who do not take the opportunity and hand themselves over before the end of the amnesty will be dealt with as "persons who deliberately collaborated with the enemy to harm the Palestinian people, not a victim who was blackmailed into collaboration, thus he will meet his fate and collaborators will be executed after the 10th July."
