And yet we spit on our military and curse them while we demand millions upon millions for those who died in the World Trade Center tragedy and/or those whose health has been permanently damaged and whose lives have been changed forever.

In a world that demands "equality for all" why is one group more deserving than another?

I was hoping this thread wouldn't be turned political. Why can't we just honor our troops and leave politics out of it? Can't we have one thread free of politics?

This is about the soldiers. Nothing more.

Look. I'm not a moderator on this forum so I can't tell you all what to do. But personally I think it's tasteless and insulting to turn a thread honoring the troops into yet another feces-slinging thread.

You all do what you think is the right thing.

We got a call from the stepson on Christmas.
He just tells his mom "you don't want to know what I'm doing". Maybe that's for the best.
Thanks Shooter. Good thread.

Your stepson is a true hero. You and your wife should be very proud. I pray he returns home safe to you all.

I too got a call from my son. He's in his third tour in Afghanistan. He followed in my footsteps and joined the Corps. He's in his 15th year.

Sorry, Shooter - it wasn't meant to be a political statement. I think our military men and women should get more respect, more thanks, and more credit than is given to them. I just have a huge respect for the military and all the sacrifices that have been made to keep us a free nation. I can remember when the military wore their uniforms on weekend passes and to travel on their leaves - and they were respected and honored.
