Military divorce rate at highest level since 1999

These silly statistics don't mean much to me. There are too many variables. First of all, the institution of marriage is different today than it's ever been. Divorce is nothing new regardless of profession; it doesn't carry any negative connotations as it did back in the 40's or 50's.

Having said that, divorce rates in the military are consistently high. Perhaps it's higher during wartime, perhaps it's not. Doesn't matter. My point is that the cards are already stacked against a successful marriage regardless of profession; they're stacked even more so in the military.
