Rasmussen has just published a major poll on US voter attitudes towards socialism. It reveals that Democrats are evenly divided in their views on socialism, with 45 percent viewing it favourably, and 45 percent negatively. This is a strikingly high level of support for socialist ideology within a political party in the United States (and the ruling party at that), and strongly suggests that Democrats are increasingly moving towards a continental-European style approach to economic issues, advancing a big government agenda that resembles that of European Social Democratic governments. This is reflected in the Obama presidency’s growing emphasis on tax the rich, class warfare policies that have been de rigeur across the Atlantic for decades, an approach that places heavy emphasis upon the redistribution of wealth.

Socialism Favored Positively By 39 Percent Of Americans [Op-Ed]​

Commentary | According to the latest Gallup Poll, Americans are increasingly more positive about Socialism. When Americans were asked whether they had a positive or negative image of each of seven economically related terms, 39 percent responded positively to Socialism, up from 36 percent in 2010.

Among self-described liberals and progressives, Socialism enjoyed a 62 percent positive rating. Even among self-identified conservatives Socialism is becoming popular, with an amazing 25 percent viewing Socialism positively. Conservatives with a libertarian bent might be further disappointed to see that Republicans and Republican-leaners have higher regard for “big business” than they do for “capitalism.”

Forbes is claiming that Obama and the Democrats are following Karl Marx’s 10-point platform for how to socialize a country’s economy in stages. Examples include “increase state control over means of production,” which is compared to Obama’s cap and trade ideas along with EPA regulation, which gives state control over the energy industry.

Upton Sinclair, who ran for Congress as a Socialist, once claimed that the “American people will take Socialism, but they won’t take the label.” Along the same lines Ronald Reagan famously once said that “the American people would never knowingly vote for socialism; but under the guise of liberalism, they would adopt every fragment of the socialist platform until one day America would be Socialist without knowing how it came about.” He attributed this quote to Socialist leader Norman Thomas, which is probably false, but the idea still stands. If anything, it appears that Americans understanding of what Socialism means is morphing.

MSNBC: Socialism Never Caught On in US Because of Racism

Ever wonder why Americans haven't embraced the obviously utopian economic system of socialism? The answer, of course, is that capitalism is racist, explains race-obsessed Melissa Harris-Perry at race-and-socialism-obsessed MSNBC.

In case you missed it, Soopermexican at The Right Scoop caught an MSNBC seminar last Saturday morning in which Harris-Perry, Kai Wright of The Nation, Harvard's Jeffrey Miron, and Reason magazine editor-in-chief Matt Welch discussed the popularity of openly socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Harris-Perry brought up her own pet theory to explain why America has always resisted socialism:

MHP: So we see this comparison a lot that the U.S. is alone, and nearly alone, among Western democracies in not having universal health care or guaranteed paid parental leave or many other perks of a more socialist government. But the question is why. What makes the U.S. different? And the way I tend to frame this to my students is why is there no socialism in the U.S.? The great Eric Foner question. And there`s a one-word answer, Kai, I'm looking at you, friend --

Wright: Let me see. Could it be race?

MHP: Could it be? I mean that becomes the kind of standard story, right, is that in this country, race and racial privilege has trumped class identity as a way of organizing our politics.

Wright rambled incomprehensibly, but the gist of it is, we're racist, capitalism is racist, the whole damn system is racist:

Miron pointed out that some people resent “affirmative action” and assume that minorities haven’t earned their status in society. Harris-Perry resisted - again with the academic jargon:

"But professor, you have to let me weigh in, that nobody needed affirmative action to teach bias against black and brown people. Like, that bias is pre-existing and then affirmative action comes and then affirmative action gets used as discourse. But it`s not as though -- it's kind of like saying that, you know, like all of a sudden white folks decide to use the N-word because of hip-hop. No, no, no, it was - they had already known how to use that word before!”

Many are the facts that the national media refuses to address. One such fact is that concerning the pattern of violence that’s emerged on the part of the supporters of self-declared “socialist,” Bernie Sanders.

In addition to the fact that they conflict wildly with those held, traditionally, by Americans generally, socialists hold moral beliefs that demand the deployment of the overt coercion of others of those who don’t share those values.

Socialists, intent upon commandeering the resources in person and property of citizens, seek to militarize the countries on which they set their sights. The quintessential illustration of this in our own place and time is the multi-trillion dollar, decades-long redistributionist scheme launched by Lyndon Johnson and deliberately couched in the militaristic language of “war,” i.e. “the War on Poverty.”

But long before anyone had heard of Johnson, one of America’s most famous 20th century philosophers—an unapologetic socialist and self-styled pacifist—recognized that if socialism stood a chance of taking root, it had to appropriate both the language and organization of the “war regime.”

As far back as 1910, William James was writing that those states that were “pacifically organized” must “preserve some of the old elements of army discipline,” for “the war-party is assuredly right in affirming and reaffirming that the martial virtues…are absolute and permanent human goods.”

Thus, they “must be the enduring cement[.]”

James insists that a “permanently successful peace economy cannot be a simple pleasure-economy,” that in “the more or less socialistic future towards which mankind seems drifting” humans “must make new energies and hardihoods continue the manliness to which the military mind so faithfully clings.”

This entails, among other things, the “surrender of private interest” and “obedience to command,” both of which are components of “the rock upon which states are built[.]”

Obviously, if society is going to be militarized, then there must an enemy on whom to wage “war.” For LBJ and the legions of socialists who have followed him, that enemy is “poverty.” The thing responsible for the gross material “inequalities” of which the world is ridden is “Nature” herself.

Thus, what James envisions is “a conscription of the whole youthful population to form for a certain number of years a part of the army enlisted against Nature,” in the “warfare against nature” (italics original).

He elaborates: “To coal and iron mines, to freight trains, to fishing fleets in December, to dishwashing, clothes-washing, and window-washing, to road-building and tunnel-making, to foundries and stoke-holes, and to the frames of skyscrapers, would our gilded youth be drafted off, according to their choice, to get the childishness knocked out of them….”

This “obligatory service” to “the community that owns them” amounts to a “blood tax” that the youth will happily pay once the “collectivity” to which they belong proves itself worthy of it. “We should be owned, as soldiers are by the army, and our pride would rise accordingly.” Moreover: “We could be poor, then, without humiliation, as army officers now are.”

...

This is justice for the socialist.

But it is gross injustice for those who love individuality and liberty.

JUST IN: Muslim Refugee Running For Office In Shocking State – His Plan Is DISTURBING

(Angry Patriot) – It has recently come to light that a Muslim Somali native is going to run for city council. This man has some shady ties, so it makes the council’s future hang ominously in the distance.


The name of the man in question is Abshir Omar, and he wants to be on the city council in De Moines, Iowa, according to The Des Moines Register. It only gets worse from here. Besides being a Muslim, Omar is also a self-proclaimed “Democratic Socialist.”


Omar originally came to the United States in 2012 and attended college here. He believes at this point, he’s fit to be on the council for the city he lives in, but some disturbing trends suggest otherwise.


Omar is an active member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and this is a huge problem. CAIR has reported in the past that they believe that Sharia Law should be the law of the land, which boldly contradicts the strong Western values we promote in our country.


In fact, you would think that if anyone opposed Omar being in office it would be the left. Sharia Law is demeaning to women and it calls for murdering people who don’t think as you do. It is suspicious why the Left would want Omar on the council.
