The uglier side of the trade skirmishes going on is the fact that China does engage in state sponsored theft of IP from American companies and the Micron case may be the first test case. There is significant evidence that Micron's leading designers were lured to rival Taiwanese company UMC and encouraged to steal any and all info they could. That is why Micron initiated a lawsuit against UMC. UMC countered and not surprisingly a Chinese court ruled in favor of them. This is BIGGER than any tariff because China's goal is to be self sufficient in semiconductors and their method of getting there is stealing our trade secrets that took many years and the brilliance of American engineers to develop.
