Michele Bachmann dismisses CBO then uses CBO numbers within 60 seconds (Video) - National Political Buzz | Examiner.com

Video after the jump.

Today the Republican Party voted on procedural motion to repeal health care reform even though the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) told htem such a move would increase the deficit. According the CBO, the Republican actions will increase the deficit by $230 billion over the first two years, and by $1.2 trillion over the next 20 years. Republicans like Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) have dismissed the CBO report as "fake numbers" in justifying their vote. However, in the video clip to the left Bachmann is caught using CBO numbers just two minutes after she tries to discredit the same organization.

The moment occurred in a debate between Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) and Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) on Sean Hannity's show last night. When challenged on the deficit Weiner pointed out that Bachmann will soon be voting to increase the debt by $1.2 trillion with her health care reform vote. At the (8:00) mark in the video to the left, Bachmann calls those CBO numbers "fake", but then at the (8:57) mark produces a chart which purports to prove deficits increased under President Obama. When Weiner asks for the source behind the chart Bachmann is forced to admit that it comes from the same CBO she just slammed.

Wiener is a liar....

"Weiner pointed out that Bachmann will soon be voting to increase the debt by $1.2 trillion with her health care reform vote"

This is a lie!

There is no issue with the credibility of the CBO. They don't audit. They just regurgitated the garbage numbers Democrats gave them to make Obamacare appear deficit neutral.

Link as to where the CBO was "tricked" by the Democrats? Real evidence too.

Not sure where he got that number from..it's 260 billion dollars over 10 years according to the CBO.

He's wrong..but he's not "lying".

Here are the real numbers.

If you can squeeze some valid evidence out of that turnip Revere calls his head, you should go into the alchemy business.

Bachman has no credibility after an exchange like this.

she never had any with idiots like you in the 1st place

So big deal :cuckoo:

look im trying to be objective here, so please try to do the same.
in the exchange between Bachman and Weiner, Bachman state that you cant believe the CBO because the democrats simply feed them bad information. (this in reference to the a repeal of the health care bill adding $230 billion to the deficit), not more than a minute later, she produces a chart generated by the CBO showing the Obama debt vs. the Bush debt.

if you call out an organization for using false numbers, but then praise the same organization for having the correct numbers, how is that not counter intuitive?

Boehner said it's because they are using 1970's rules or some nonsense like that.:cuckoo:

Democrats gave them numbers that didn't include expenditures. For example, doc fix is not included.

Healthcare Doctor Fix Going On Jobs Bill
By James Fox on March 6, 2010, 8:55 am

The so called ‘Doctor Fix’, a measure that addresses Medicare reimbursement fees, is being bundled into the job’s bill. This looks like a slippery way of putting something that should be in the healthcare bill into another bill that America will not notice.

Bundling Legislation
The “Doctor Fix” has been moved from the healthcare insurance reform bill to what is being referred to as the “Jobs Bill” to keep the cost of the healthcare insurance reform bill under $1 trillion. Though “Doctor Fix” definitely belongs on the healthcare insurance reform bill, elected officials are manipulating the system by playing a numbers game.

what an embarrassing thread

you can discredit A report by an organization and still use credible reports by them....

for example...modbert has been wrong before, does this mean he is always wrong? of course not
