One of America’s biggest metropolitan areas has submitted to President Trump’s call for an end “sanctuary cities” — as the Mayor of Miami-Dade County has ordered his jails to comply with requests from federal immigration officials, according to a report.

Mayor Carlos Gimenez said he made the move for fear of Trump’s executive order threatening to cut funds to “sanctuary cities,” according to the Miami Herald.

“In light of the provisions of the Executive Order, I direct you and your staff to honor all immigration detainer requests received from the Department of Homeland Security,” Gimenez wrote to one of his top jail executives, the report said.

The Florida county — which a population of 2.9 million — has never officially called itself a “sanctuary city,” though they have in the past followed policies similar to such cities as they have refused federal immigration requests to hold certain inmates in its jails.

Gimenez is a Republican who attended Trump’s inauguration, but who said he voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton.

We live in a crazy world when it takes a threat from the federal government to force state governors to tell local Sheriffs and jail keepers to comply with existing federal immigration laws.

Actually, if Trump is successful in convincing most to end sanctuary city policies, that will put a LOT of pressure on the remaining hold outs to cave.

They will all cave eventually. Half won't even wait for the final day (whenever that may be) to declassify themselves as sanctuary.

The best part though is word is out we now have a President that is tough on immigration. That alone will give some second thoughts about coming here and breaking our laws. It's in contrast to the Welcome Mat DumBama had on our borders.

Fearing a loss of millions of dollars for defying immigration authorities, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez on Thursday ordered county jails to comply with federal immigration detention requests — effectively gutting the county’s position as a “sanctuary” for immigrants in the country illegally.

I'm totally fine with that. Make a stand. But if you don't want to enforce federal law, you don't get any federal money. And when your community is financially strapped, don't blame Trump...blame the local leaders that put illegal aliens above their own citizens. Or raise taxes and pay your own way...equally fine.

But when Chicago and LA come hat in hand to bail out their unfunded liabilities, it's us that will be saying "go fuck yourself".

Yep, kick all the illegals out, then pay ten times as much for produce at the supermarkets. When you can find that produce. What we need to do is have a look at what we need to do to keep the agriculture production up, and at the same time, give the best of the workers a chance at becoming American Citizens.
