33 miners were trapped after a mine in Chile collapsed. The trapped miners were found alive after 17 days and the world is rejoicing with the news that they are all well and alive.

17 days in the dark and endless time, these miners were able to pull off a miracle and survive the incident. The people in Chile, including myself, were amazed by these 33 miners' spirit and strong will to survive have showed us what it means to stay alive in one of the worst situations.

Like them, in severe incidents, people are capable of surviving through strong willpower in the mind.
Just like the message we heard that they were doing okay after 17 days, we hope to hear better news of them being rescued soon.

I sincerely hope that these men would return to their loved ones as soon as possible.

I saw on the news that one of them proposed to his girlfriend via a message that was sent up from the mine. In sha' Allah, they'll all emerge from this disaster unharmed. Does anyone know why it will supposedly take such a long time to rescue them?

i am following this...they are deep down...they have to drill thru some hard rock....and then once a hole is established they have to widen it with wider drill bits...its aint like they can just drill a 24 inch whole right off the bat....

plus the mining company didnt move in the state has taken efforts over....the men wont be paid...the mining company has declared bankruptcy....

a few of the miners are too heavy for the rescur...i think they have to have a 36 inch waist to fit in the capsule that will be pulled up the hole...(estimated to take an hour per man) but they are losting weight fast....i think the tube they are using to pass things to the miners is only 3 inches

Miners are tough, they have to be. But what they've been through and what lies ahead will be a test for anyone, miner or no. The Chileans know what they're doing, at least. Mining is a huge industry there and they have lots of experience. Here's hoping it takes less than 4 months! And that they all make it out in one piece.

I've been following this human drama. I hadn't heard the mining company had declared bankruptcy.

I read that NASA has sent specialists to help them deal with the psychological stress of such a prolonged confinement. Of course, the miners already must possess certain coping skills in order to be miners in the first place.

It's really a riveting story. I'll be praying for them, and for their waiting families.
