Obama takes on GOP on taxes, economy

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says Republicans' plan to slash taxes and cut spending if the GOP retakes the House in November is no more than "an echo of a disastrous decade we can't afford to relive."
(ap) - The President being this Dishonest is one thing... The AP Parroting it without Contradiction is another. The current Tax Rates that have been in place for the last decade being allowed to Continue is NOT "Slashing" anything and the AP knows it. And again the DemocRATS took over the House and Senate after winning in 2006 and they have had 3/3's control since Barry's win in 2008. That's also part of the last "Disastrous Decade", AP... You could correct the guy you Voted for once and a while. - tha malcontent)
Obama used his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday to skewer House Republicans over the "Pledge to America" they unveiled this week. It also promised to cut down on government regulation, repeal Obama's health care law and end his stimulus program.

"The Republicans who want to take over Congress offered their own ideas the other day. Many were the very same policies that led to the economic crisis in the first place, which isn't surprising, since many of their leaders were among the architects of that failed policy," Obama said.
(Abso-fuckin-lutely NOT the Truth... And that's why he can't make the case with Specifics. It was almost solely the product of Lending Standards that lead to our Collapse... That was a product of DemocRATS going all of the way back to the Herpes of American Politics, Jimmah Carter, trying to Force Banks to lend to people who didn't Qualify, primarily based on Race. A LOT of people got money they shouldn't have, the Housing Market Bubbled and people Borrowed against their Homes to play... That came Crashing down and now the DemocRATS aren't being held accountable, instead, they are pushing to repeat the Mistake. - tha malcontent)

"The new agenda embodies Americans' rejection of the notion that we can simply tax, borrow and spend our way to prosperity," said one of its authors, California Rep. Kevin McCarthy. "It offers a new way forward that hasn't been tried in Washington - an approach focused on cutting spending - which is sadly a new idea for a Congress accustomed to always accelerating it."
(FACT. Cutting Spending is simply something that Rarely, IF EVER happens in Washington. While Americans are Forced to cut our Spending, Washington never seems to be Burdened with that, they will simply take more of our Labors. The American People are FINALLY getting Wise to this, and that's why you see the DemocRATS backing down at this Late Hour. - tha malcontent)
The GOP plan was short on specifics but showed a stark contract between the philosophies of the two parties weeks ahead of midterm elections where Republicans are forecast to make big gains and potentially win back the House.

Perhaps the biggest difference was on taxes, where Republicans want to extend all of George W. Bush's income tax cuts permanently - at a cost of some $4 trillion over 10 years.

Democrats are proposing to keep the rates where they are for individuals making up to $200,000 and for families earning up to $250,000 - but to hit wealthier individuals and some small businesses with tax hikes in January. Their plan would cost $3 trillion.
(And here's the skinny... The difference between the DemocRATS and the Republicans now that the DemocRATS are being shown the door is $3 Trillion and $4 Trillion... Give that some Thought. Months ago these same DemocRATS were Complaining that (43)'s Tax Cuts were what was Killing our Economy... Now they are Proposing to keep 75% of them. They were Lying then and they are Lying now and they are only doing this to save their Political asses. - tha malcontent)
Now, though, it's not clear there will be a final vote in Congress on either approach before November's elections.
(What's not Clear is why the AP so Willingly Lies on a regular basis. I know why the DemocRATS do, but the AP is hidinig behind First Amendment Press Protections... They have a Responsibility to the Truth. - tha malcontent)
