ABC News' Huma Khan reports: Meghan McCain, the daughter of former GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and a self-described “progressive Republican,” today assailed the tea party movement.

Sitting in as co-host on “The View” today, McCain said she has ideological differences with the movement.

She specifically took aim at remarks by former Congressman Tom Tancredo, who suggested that people who voted for President Obama could not pass a basic civics literacy test.

“People who would not even spell the word vote or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House... named Barack Hussein Obama," Tancredo said last week as he kicked off the Tea Party convention in Nashville, Tenn. He also ripped Sen. McCain for being a repeat of "Bush 1 and Bush 2."

“It’s innate racism, and I think it’s why young people are turned off by this movement,” McCain charged of Tancredo’s remarks. “Revolutions start with young people, not with 65-year-old people talking about literacy tests and people who can’t say the word vote in English. It’s ridiculous.”

Thank you. COmments like this will only ensure that McCain will lose in the upcoming elecition.

Again, you guys really can't get out of collectivist political thinking. One guy holds up a sign with something foul on it and that is suppose to represent every tea party person in the world. Its no different than the democratic party assuming all blacks are represented by the NAACP as in Barbara Boxers Tirade against a black conservative. Do you remember when she assumed he was black that he should think like the NAACP?

I can't find anything more racist than that. In fact, I find it much worse than what this guy is holding up because she made a stereotypical assumtion about someone else that was not based on non-political beliefs such as 'more blacks steal' but more along the lines of 'more blacks are liberals'. Can you tell me that what Boxer did was not much worse than some guy who assumes that all blacks steal?

The next time we talk about inate racism of any political party then we should talk about why do all democrats assume latinos are from other countries and blacks are a part of the NAACP and why all these stereotypes happen to be around political affilations. That in itself is discussion worth having but not in this thread.

It’s going to be a lot harder for Tea Baggers to claim they’re not racists now that a photo has emerged of Dale Robertson, who calls himself the “president and founder of the Tea Party,” holding a sign that reads,”Congress = Slave Owner; Taxpayer = Niggar.”The photo was taken in Houston on Feb. 27, 2009.

Robertson is the operator of the Tea Party website (teaparty.org). Here’s what he wrote about himself on the website’s “About Us” page:

A Word From The Founder;

Dale Robertson is a man of courage and conviction, a rare commodity in today’s topsy-turvy world. Dale, is the Founder of the modern day Tea Party and also President of TeaParty.org

I really don't understand why some people get themselves into such a tizzy about trying to make other people speak English. If it's not bigotry then what the heck is it? Why do you give a damn how other people talk?

BS, he might have his own little Tea Party website and all, but he is not the leader, founder of ANYTHING. but don't let that stop you all.

Protesting taxes and big government is now racist?

So, "racist" now has no meaning whatsoever. What a stupid ****.

It is about being an American. As an American you should speak English. I would not go to Germany and become a German citizen and expect Germans to accept that I speak English. Instead I would learn German. It is stupid to come here and expect that we should accept that you speak another language instead of the language of the people here. America is a MELTING POT, not a stratosphere of different cultures but a united people that are stronger because they are for different backgrounds but joined together as Americans. Why is that so terrible a concept for people to understand?

You rail against collectivist thinking........and then what do you give us? Collectivist thinking.

I'm afraid it happens every day (Americans moving abroad and not learning to speak the language).
