Palin Plans New Political Group





Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is starting a political organization, continuing a path that could lead to a run for the presidency in 2012.

The organization will be called Stand Up For Our Nation, according to The New York Post.

Palin aide Tim Crawford told The Wall Street Journal an announcement would be forthcoming, but he declined to give details. Crawford is treasurer of Palin’s political action committee, SarahPAC.


The Journal suggested that the launch of the new group will coincide with the publication of Palin’s memoir “Going Rogue: An American Life” in November.

Palin backers told the Journal that last year’s GOP vice presidential nominee is keen on staying in the spotlight and generating significant personal income at the same time.

“She wants to continue to be in a position to help causes dear to her heart and help people close to her,” said Fred Malek, a former fundraiser for Sen. John McCain.

I don't recall Palin doing anything besides kissing Bush's ass. Meanwhile Ralph Nader:

In the piece entitled "Country of Laws," Nader blasts Bush for fictionalizing his Iraq war actions and for saying that he'll leave office with no regrets. While Spitzer resigned within days of his admission to indiscretions, "Bush remains," writes Nader, "disgracing his office for longtime repeated violations of the Constitution, federal laws and international treaties to which the U.S. is a solemn signatory."

Possibly, as that is the typical result of third party candidates. Were the Republicans as demonically evil and clever as some posters seem to think, then I would expect to see dozens of new "left wing liberal" parties appear. With just the right amount of cash to each party then the challenge to democrat candidates would be powerful enough to deny them representation without giving the new parties enough votes to turn "legitimate"

Perhaps the reason neither side, not Democrat nor Republican, uses this tactic is fear that a true multi-party system (as in most of the rest of the democratic countries around the globe) might emerge and reduce their own power. As it stands now both sides have someone to blame when things go wrong without having too much competition (As proven by the absurdly high incumbent re-election rates)

Perhaps it is time for a centrist party formed of dissatisfied individuals on both sides of the spectrum to form a "Citizens Against Incumbent Candidates" party. It should be a Caikwalk (you should have seen that coming)
All joking aside, such a party could wield considerable influence without ever fielding a candidate or needing much funding. All they would need to do is publish a list of the incumbents and their members could vote for the OTHER main party candidate. By giving warning to politicians that their days were numbered unless they changed, they would effect change far better than voting for one of two existing failed causes (Democratic entitlement programs, Republican 'wars' - on drugs, nations or whatever)
